Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction: November 2010
http://grahamedwards.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction. Sunday, 28 November 2010. Horns by Joe Hill. I pegged Joe Hill as one to watch after reading his wonderful Heart Shaped Box. Now I've read his latest novel, Horns. And the peg ain't moving from the spot. Defies categorisation - something I like in a book. Chances are you'll find it shelved under Horror, but it is by turns a mystery, a romance and a supernatural thriller. It's from here that the novel starts revealing its onion-skin layers, as Iggy sets out to uncover...

Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction. Wednesday, 22 September 2010. Close Enemies - new novel published. Yes, I've got a new novel out on the streets. It's called Close Enemies. And it's the sequel to my earlier crime thriller Runaway Minister. Like the first book, I wrote it in collaboration with Working Partners Two, under the pseudonym Nick Curtis. There's a bit of a saga behind the publication of Close Enemies. You can buy Close Enemies. Posted by Graham Edwards. Wednesday, September 22, 2010. Close ...

Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction: Sweaty writing
http://grahamedwards.blogspot.com/2011/02/sweaty-writing.html
Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction. Thursday, 3 February 2011. Over on Aliette de Bodard's blog. Nancy Fulda's posted a nice article comparing writing to sculpture. She takes as her starting point Michelangelo's famous line: “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” She goes on to talk about how, through writing and editing, it's the writer's job to carve away all the unnecessary clutter, revealing the story hidden within. When the fossils are free though, like angels, they fly.

Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction: The character speaks
http://grahamedwards.blogspot.com/2011/01/character-speaks.html
Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction. Sunday, 30 January 2011. Eagle-eyed lurkers will have spotted my word count's gone down. How can that be? I'll tell you: up to now I've been taking decent bites out of the novel. Yesterday the novel bit back. Think of your average Hollywood action blockbuster. You can tell it's plot-driven because the hero keeps delivering ironic quips. That's because he's reacting to the action, not driving it. Same with a novel. Me, I prefer my characters to be in c...I'm about to ...

Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction: August 2010
http://grahamedwards.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction. Wednesday, 25 August 2010. Ash by Mary Gentle. I just finished re-reading Mary Gentle's Ash. Having devoured it joyously when I first got the paperback in 2001. It's an alternative history of the 15th century, told through the eyes of warrior-mercenary Ash, who's kind of a cross between Joan of Arc and Ellen Ripley. Posted by Graham Edwards. Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Tuesday, 24 August 2010. Ark by Stephen Baxter. I first read Stephen Baxter when I picked up Voyage.

Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction: Hardy and the nymphstone
http://grahamedwards.blogspot.com/2011/02/hardy-and-nymphstone.html
Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction. Sunday, 6 February 2011. Hardy and the nymphstone. Today I wrote about a storm and a strange thing called a nymphstone. The nymphstone started as a MacGuffin. I've also taken a moment to reflect on my decision to blog-as-I-go while writing this novel. Posted by Graham Edwards. Sunday, February 06, 2011. Labels: The Spiral Skull. Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction: Disaster attraction
http://grahamedwards.blogspot.com/2011/02/disaster-attraction.html
Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction. Tuesday, 8 February 2011. Why crave apocalypse tales? Why watch Charlton and Mel grapple doom-spawned vampires and leather-clad crazies? Why pursue the ash-strewn trails of Viggo and Don (Tiger too), only to end up hunkered down in a craterish bed sitting room waiting to thumb a lift from Ralph in his horse-drawn Rolls? If all is truly lost, why seek perverse delight in this end of all ends? Is our hope to hang out with Ish, that Last American? Subscribe to: Post Com...
