French Windows: The Vercors
http://french-windows.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-vercors.html
Sunday, October 20, 2013. My little blue car chugs valiantly upwards on the winding road to the Vercors mountains. Even with the accelerator pressed to the floor, she will not go any faster than 60km an hour. The line of impatient motorists behind me is getting longer and I have to pull into a lay-by twice to let them pass. I have not ventured into the Vercors for years. The first time was when we arrived in Grenoble in 2001. I was excited at the prospect of tasting the local AOC cheese:. 8211; a sweet, ...

Chocolate and Cuckoos: HOME AND AWAY

Chapter Two in Brussels. Views on life in general by a grumpy old(ish) woman and edited by her dog, Angus. Monday, June 11, 2007. My poor old blog has been abandoned recently due to the early euphoria of the new Telegraph blog. I think I will no longer blog there, but post a comment every now and then - the site is too muddled and there are just too many blogs appearing daily that unless one is prepared to spend the day in front of the screen, one quickly misses the plot! It is indeed a different London,...

Chapter Two in Brussels. Views on life in general by a grumpy old(ish) woman and edited by her dog, Angus. Wednesday, May 23, 2007. A BUZZ IN BARCELONA 2. After the hectic pace of the city centre, the Park Guell is wonderful. The main terrace of course is internationally reknowned, snaking its way round the viewpoint. What I didn't know was the shape of the seats was determined by Gaudi by getting the workmen to sit in the wet clay with their trousers down! Towards the end of the tour as we neared the se...

French Windows: August 2012
http://french-windows.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 26, 2012. I’ve just spent a wonderful week squished into a tiny caravan in the Pyrénées, at a lakeside campsite in Matemale. We walked in the mountains in the mornings, fizzed in the Jacuzzi and sweated in the sauna in the afternoons and gazed at the stars at night. We climbed high peaks, paddled in icy lakes, shivered in dark caves. We saw forest fires. Whispered to wild horses. And we searched our souls. Ah, yes. It was perfect. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
