Brian made a mistake with his withholdings and we owe federal tax - If Wishes Were Horses. Apr 11th, 2010 11:48 am. Brian made a mistake with his withholdings and we owe federal tax this year. Not a huge amount- I think 600 dollars, but disappointing not to get a refund. Although it probably would have just gone toward the things we would have been neglecting with the smaller paychecks Brian would have been receiving.
