In Cape Town this week I have visited some likely looking sites checking for Dragonflies. I started at the hotel at which we were staying, The Lord Charles at Somerset West. There is a small dam in the grounds which has plenty of lily pads and emergent growth around the edges. First were some Common Bluetails,. This one was infested with mites. The SSR (Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam) Botanic Gardens at Pamplemousses, have some reasonable habitat to accommodate some of the common odonata species of Mauritius. Home Page of John Hall and David Edwards. Recent Sightings at Sandhurst Shores and beyond. The “dragon” in Dragonhunter refers to dragonflies and not the mythical beast. We search for dragonflies and damselflies as well as butterflies and other creatures. There is also large dragonfly called the Dragonhunter which is pictured above.
