Drawing my way round London

Drawing my way round London. Friday, 7 June 2013. My trip across the Thames by ferry. A view of Woolwich Ferry August 2005. I began my 'Drawing my way round London' project with a sketch of the Woolwich Ferry. I can remember being spellbound with the view of the ferries travelling to and fro across the river and I made a note to myself to make a trip on it one day and nearly eight years later I finally did. Project that has sprouted up next to it. All the freight vehicles and cars stay on deck and the pa...

Drawing my way round London: June 2011

http://drawingmywayroundlondon.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Drawing my way round London. Saturday, 25 June 2011. Kew Gardens: 24 June 2011. I find it's always a mistake to have a preconceived idea about what you intend to draw and I fell into this trap yesterday. I had planned to do an elaborate drawing inside the Palm House at Kew. But they keep the temperature so hot in there, since it is full of tropical plants, I almost felt my life force drain out of me. It was fascinating exploring the place but I couldn't spend too long in there. Links to this post. I was ...

Drawing my way round London. Saturday, 21 May 2011. Willesden Junction from Station Road: 20 May 2011. The area immediately around the station doesn't seem to have been developed much since the end of the 19th century with the exception of constant traffic. There is an interesting group of Brazilian businesses close by including a finance company, a lingerie shop, a grocery store and I enjoyed a cup of coffee in a café that was showing a Brazilian game show on the television. Drawing my way round London. Friday, 26 November 2010. Keats Garden, Hampstead: 26 November 2010. I was very excited at the prospect of drawing in the garden of Keats House. Until today I really knew nothing about him other than he was a poet who died young. I had the idea that he had drowned in the Bay of Naples but it was Shelley who drowned. Links to this post. Hampstead Heath Station: 26 November 2010. This morning I enjoyed the train ride from Homerton, my nearest station, to Hampstead and it only t...

Emily Carr is one of Canada's best loved artists but she was unknown outside north America, until now, because there is currently a major exhibition of her work on display at Dulwich Picture Gallery. drawingmyownconclusions | Always have the courage to be happy!

Always have the courage to be happy! Always Have the Courage to Be Happy! September 6, 2011. When I was really sick, before I was diagnosed with MS, I decided that my poor health didn’t have to affect my attitude. I have scrawled on a scrap piece of paper that was next to my bed, the words, “Always have the courage to be happy! It takes courage to choose happiness! I still need to be mindful of this. Sometimes I forget to choose happiness and I am grumpy and nitpicking and worried. But then somet...Thoug...
