at the water's edge: walking the brush creek
http://karenmcalistershimoda.blogspot.com/2014/04/walking-brush-creek.html
Saturday, April 5, 2014. Walking the brush creek. I need the sound of the cold waters of Brush Creek at least once, if not twice, per day. My place. Is always at the water's edge. Close my eyes, let the water sounds envelope me. What's the first thing that comes to mind? That is what I take back to my studio. I am grounded here. April 5, 2014 at 9:18 PM. The doggies always tag along! Some farther than others. I remember the bigger one followed Laura around BC when she went for her morning walks.

Http:/ www.drawnweststudio.com. Bobbie McKibbin is a nationally-recognized pastel artist. Her focus is the incredible landscape here in Montana and the West. For her site she wasn't looking for a place to sell her work, no buy me buttons, rather she wanted a place for people to find out more about her and her work in general. She wanted the site to be sophisticated and informative. The menu buttons I made from photos I had taken of her vast stock of pastels. MEADOW, BITTEROOT VALLEY, MONTANA.

Wednesday, April 2, 2014. First day at the brush creek foundation for the arts. Are allowed to sit in the lodge or use its gym. More on that as the days go by. We live in the Artist Camp. We were each awarded this residency through a juried selection. Our stay here, including the food, is gratis, and we all have private studios and time to work on our various projects unencumbered by our normal daily lives. Walk this way to our camp. The door to my private living quarters. April 2, 2014 at 3:07 PM. My fa...

at the water's edge: roots
http://karenmcalistershimoda.blogspot.com/2014/04/roots.html
Saturday, April 5, 2014. I stare at the white cottons hanging. I read. I write. I walk. And then . . . April 5, 2014 at 5:22 PM. Very intriguing, Karen! Though you cant see the whole thing in your photos, you know there is a story behind what you are doing. Would love to know what you are thinking and how you come up with these evocative ideas! Are you also keeping a journal of your thoughts and ideas as your work progresses at the residency? I can envision poetry accompanying your cotton dresses! Paper ...

at the water's edge: May 2011
http://karenmcalistershimoda.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 12, 2011. Beyond the gates of the Jentel cattle ranch, my artistic journey will travel on. Wednesday, May 11, 2011. How fitting it was to be here at the water's edge. My blog will probably go on hiatus for a while, but I thank you for reading. Feel free to send a brief (or long) comment, just so that I know who was out there following along with my experience. I'd love to "hear" from you. All things come to an end, and some of it goes in the garbage. Sunday, May 8, 2011. Color of early May.
