Tuesday, June 28, 2011. My Story. Part 1. For the past few months, we've discussed our personal stories. So this is mine. at least part 1. I was raised in church. As a child, I was a faithful member of Mission Friends on Wednesday nights at our church. Yawn! It never really appealed to me, but I was a "pleaser". I loved my teachers in Mission Friends, but I wasn't a fan. When I entered junior high school, I became an Acteen, the "middle school" mission program for girls. BOORRRIINGGG! Well, you may have ...

Wednesday, September 28, 2011. SYATP See YOU at the POLE. Repost from 9/22/10 SYATP. For Theresa and Toni and Lainey. Last Sunday we were challenged to really worship. Not just at church, but in our daily lives. Our Sunday worship should be an out-pouring of the previous week. After thinking about that, I realize that when I worship - I am worshiping with Old Testament Heroes! How awesome is that! And you can be a part! Just meet at your school flagpole! Humm Who will be at your flagpole? What a blessing...

Sunday, January 27, 2013. Miracle in a Shoebox. At the end of last week, I was privileged to travel with a group from FBB to Juarez, Mexico. We were blessed to work with Carlos Garcia and Samaritan's Purse to distribute Operation Christmas Child gifts to some precious children. I have read the book, Miracle in a Shoebox. Our shoeboxes were just like the one from Audra and Jason. This box was sent to a real person from a loving couple in hopes of sharing the love of Christ. Links to this post. ND, Dawn, PT.

Saturday, August 24, 2013. Another Back to School Night in the books. Week two is over, and I survived! Most importantly, another Back to School Night is behind me. I am always a little nervous on Back to School Night. This year was no different. Except Nate had is first Benton Middle School Scrimmage at 5PM, and Back to School Night started at 6:30! AND it was 96 degrees in the shade! Hopefully, I camouflaged my sweat and body odor so as not to offend the parents of my students? Links to this post.

Princess Lucy: February 2015

Wednesday, February 11, 2015. Each time I see the Daraja Choir perform, I keep waiting for them to break out in the 1980s hit song, "Don't Worry, Be Happy! The way they sing and dance, there is no denying that joy of the Lord is certainly real to them. Having visited both Kenya and Uganda in the last several years, I could argue that most of those children would probably have some worries in their lives. Will my family have enough food to eat? Is there enough clean water for our village? Nehemiah 8:10b s...

Wednesday, August 8, 2012. I love this poem. I read it every year so I can remember how truly blessed I am to be a teacher. So for all my teaching buddies, get out your buffing cloths and let the polishing begin. I have a great job in the universe of occupations. What do I do? I'm a "star polisher.". It's a very important job. If you want to know how important my job is, just go out at night and look at the stars twinkling and sparkling. Have a great first day! Links to this post. ND, Dawn, PT. Princess Lucy: Note to Lisa
http://princesslucy-dawn.blogspot.com/2015/07/note-to-lisa.html
Thursday, July 2, 2015. I know we have had some serious discussions lately about our seniors or GRADUATES being ready for college life. We have listed many reasons they can't possibly make it without us- their moms. I mean we have reminded them to brush their teeth, wear deodorant, change their clothes, wash their nasty, greasy hair, and generally have decent if not good manners in public. And now… they are headed to college! There were many tears…. his and mine! It was quite painful! Jack was my savior ...

Princess Lucy: June 2013
http://princesslucy-dawn.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 22, 2013. I am selfish. I go on mission trips for selfish reasons. I enjoy traveling to new places. I love interacting with new cultures, and making new friends. It is for purely selfish reasons that sign up for mission trips. I despised Mission Friends, GAs, and Acteens. Those church activities made me very uncomfortable. I could not imagine who in their right God- given mind would choose to live in a foreign country! Did they not enjoy air conditioning, "ice" tea , and the good ole USA?
