The Crabbe Trap: Prague diary: Tracing roots in Kadov
http://thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2010/06/prague-diary-tracing-roots-in-kadov.html
Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Prague diary: Tracing roots in Kadov. On Steve's birthday, he and his traveling companions met up with Rasto, who translates and gives geneaological tours in Europe. They got the singular treat of taking a trip to Kadov. South of the capital. It's the area that Steve's great-grandparents came from. (Now might be a good time to remind everyone who's on this trip: Steve, Emilyn, Steve's cousins Laura and Brian, and Steve's aunt Ellen.). Had huge meat platter, beef, duck, pork and ch...

The Crabbe Trap: A rough week
http://thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2012/06/rough-week.html
Saturday, June 9, 2012. Well, I got robbed of my first two days of vacation, and for a very sad reason. Three of my colleagues got the ax from the Post-Dispatch, and suddenly we were scrambling to fill their shifts. On Saturday the 9th, three people were scheduled to work. All three had been laid off. Hmm. That's a poser for management, huh? My two weeks of vacation was on,. And short-staffing be damned. It wasn't my. Idea to fire 40 percent of the copy desk. Big fun for an almost-first-grader! And, then...

The Crabbe Trap: Steve's off-road rash
http://thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2009/06/steves-off-road-rash.html
Thursday, June 25, 2009. Steve took a short roll down a long hill today while mountain biking at Castlewood State Park. Then he rode all the way home! He scrubbed the heck out of his leg, then woke me up, gently, from my nap and asked me, nicely, to go to Walgreens for him and get him major first aid supplies for this major off-road rash! We used a whole roll of tape on this first dressing. Gotta go back and get more if we're going to wrap it again tomorrow! Any improvement in the leg? Sh*t My Dad Says.

The Crabbe Trap: April 2012
http://thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 24, 2012. These are a few of my favorite things . . . About the new house! My uber-wise friend Stacy said it best: "It's the small things in life that make it so special." In that spirit, here are a few photos of things about the new house that get me all jazzed up. The neon-blue water and ice cube dispenser in the fridge is like Star Trek. The kitchen faucet detaches and becomes a sprayer. With two water settings! The kitchen ceiling fan has a remote! And that's just what's in the kitchen!

The Crabbe Trap: '' If I can't eat svickova or cream donuts . . .''
http://thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2012/06/if-i-cant-eat-svickova-or-cream-donuts.html
Friday, June 15, 2012. If I can't eat svickova or cream donuts . . .'. Boy, impressing this man on his birthday is sure hard since Prague. But, I gave it a shot. I bought him a Shop-Vac (for cutting his hair) and a big garbage can on wheels (to avoid the rental fee that the trash company charges) - with. A jaunty red bow! And had him pick where he wanted to go eat. He chose Bacana Brasil. the all-you-can-eat Brazilian meat place. We headed off, took a loooong. Daddy chose another favorite, Espino's.

The Crabbe Trap: Barbecue at Nate's
http://thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2012/06/barbecue-at-nates.html
Saturday, June 16, 2012. Allen's friend Nate and his family were sweet enough to invite us over Saturday for hot dogs and hamburgers. this, of course, touched off Mommy's grand kitchen scramble. I made ramen noodle salad and tried once again. To refine my potato salad method. A little bit. Too much pickle this time. And my egg-boiling once again was a disaster. I might be a totally lost cause in that area. Labels: Staycation: June 2012. Whats up with Allen. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Amount of o...

The Crabbe Trap: Staycation - Long walk in the park
http://thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2012/06/staycation-long-walk-in-park.html
Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Staycation - Long walk in the park. Tuesday was a bit of a weird day. Allen, Daddy and I had decided to go on a hike. On our way to the park, I got a call on my cellphone from Maureen at work. Odd, and terrifying, in light of the recent and still-painful layoffs. Then she says, "No, it's just for you to spend some time with your colleagues.". Well, it turns out I overthought the whole thing. More on that later. We got to the park and chose the three-mile Grotpeter Trail. It ha...

The Crabbe Trap: Greek Fest - and a nap
http://thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2012/05/greek-fest-and-nap.html
Monday, May 28, 2012. Greek Fest - and a nap. Memorial Day weekend was threatening to get away from us. Mommy had a rare two days off and wanted to do something. Greek Fest at Assumption Church! I think the traditional Mediterranean diet calls for plenty of napping. and our new couch is up to the task. Happy start of summer, everyone! Labels: Uniquely St. Louis. Yes, Allen wore his Swedish T-shirt to Greek Fest. Just trying to foster a little EU love! And Steve threatened to shout out Austerity now!

The Crabbe Trap: Staycation begins
http://thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2012/06/staycation-begins.html
Monday, June 11, 2012. On our first day of "staycation," Daddy went on a long bike ride with his friends, so the kids and I kind of had a slow day at home. Later on, when the weather dried out, we took a drive to Lone Elk Park, mostly because it's where Emilyn likes to practice driving. We saw a beautiful deer, and baby buffalo. But the native animals were restless! This mommy elk charged our car! That's why she's blurry! Uniquely St. Louis. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

The Crabbe Trap: Staycation - Magic by night
http://thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2012/06/staycation-magic-by-night.html
Thursday, June 14, 2012. Staycation - Magic by night. On Daddy's birthday eve, he fortified us all with his homemade chicken marsala (and please, ask him about the crunchy broccoli). I had purchased tickets for my main goal of Staycation: the Lantern Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden. I borrowed a tripod from my good friend Ron and was ready to take some pictures! We got there before. Dark and milled around with at least two bus-fuls of tourists. There were quite a few senior citizens. Luxe 365 p...
