Think Dream Play: September 2014
http://thinkdreamplay.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 13, 2014. It’s all happening at the zoo. I met Raymond J. Johnson, Jr. (not his real name) only last November. At first, our relationship was appropriate. Platonic. But before long, innocently, at least on my part, one thing led to another, and yadda yadda yadda. Now, he behaves toward me like a neurotic, possessive, controlling boyfriend. Don’t tell my husband. JJ, as he likes to be called, has to know everything I’m doing – where I’m going, when I’ll be back. He’s very adept. I know...

Think Dream Play: February 2015
http://thinkdreamplay.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 28, 2015. Music soothes the old brain. Recently, I found myself in a room with a saxophone. Apparently, I arrived in the midst one of those “common but mysterious short-term memory failures, [where] people find themselves in a room, without remembering why they ended up there.”. So, there I was, a little bit breathless, and pondering: Moments ago I was there, but now I am here. With a saxophone. Why am I here? This is not an existential question. I know. Why I am here. In the mind, whi...

Think Dream Play: November 2014
http://thinkdreamplay.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 28, 2014. Thankful for the small things. A lone pelican works our cove, swooping with his huge beak pointed downward, keen eyes following fingerlings below the surface of the water. He spots a fat one and forming a dagger with his body, he plunges, then bobs to the surface, tilts his enormous beak upward and lets his holiday hors d’oeurvre slip down his throat. Leaves on the gingko tree in their yard fan out yellow now. And behind it, what is that tree? He’ll be with us another yea...

Think Dream Play: Who's sitting next to you?
http://thinkdreamplay.blogspot.com/2015/07/whos-sitting-next-to-you.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. Who's sitting next to you? I spent the middle of the day at Big O with a big man I’ll call Big Bill. He called himself Big Something Else, but maybe I shouldn’t say. It was not how I planned to spend my day. But the right front tire on Mr. Plath’s truck heaved a slow, surreptitious sigh overnight and relaxed into a rubber puddle. When he dashed out to catch up with his buddy at the BART station for a 12:45 first pitch at AT&T Park. That tire was flat. On the way to the station, Mr&...

Think Dream Play: Never give up! Never surrender!
http://thinkdreamplay.blogspot.com/2015/07/never-give-up-never-surrender.html
Saturday, July 25, 2015. A foldy toe. Of all things. I didn’t see this one coming. You never truly expect all the inevitable "aging" crapola that’s coming your way, though, right? Even though you’ve known all along that some telltale stuff is marching straight at you, two abreast, you can look over, under, sideways, down, and plain old ignore the certainty. For example, you know you’re going to wrinkle. But still, it offends. Wrinkles scandalize. They appall. There’s that OMG! I once had a dermatologist ...

Think Dream Play: August 2015
http://thinkdreamplay.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 31, 2015. You're gonna need an ocean. Once, in my halcyon college days, I took a botany class. Everything was interesting to me then. Kind of like now, except I was 24. Following a long-standing habit of late bloomers, I enrolled in my first college courses in Santa Barbara a full six years after graduating from high school. And, due at least in part to my ho hum high school experience, every course was a wonder. Sociology! T he scientific study of plants! And California botany at that!

Think Dream Play: December 2014
http://thinkdreamplay.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 26, 2014. Another Marlon Brando New Year. Let’s be real. For once. It’s OK. Go ahead and let it out: We’re not keeping our New Year’s resolutions, are we? There now. Doesn’t that feel better? Oh sure, we mean well. We have every intention. We do so want to improve. But do we even remember what we resolved with such fervor on January 1, 2014? But aw shucks, Miss Carolyn! We was just funnin’! We was just kiddin’ anyway! What’s all the fuss about? Year after year we flap our lips! Option on...

Think Dream Play: Dog / Cat meditation
http://thinkdreamplay.blogspot.com/2015/08/dog-cat-meditation.html
Friday, August 7, 2015. Dog / Cat meditation. As I sat licking my wounds and fingering my checkbook this week, I happened upon this profound quote from naturalist and Thoreau wannabe Henry Beston, author of. The Outermost House: A Year ofLife on the Great Beach of Cape Cod. 8220;We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals. OK, he uses the uppity ‘our’ spelling of splendor. You know what that means – it’s certifiably deep thinking about cats and d...Having said that, I am im...
