Saturday, March 24, 2012. E-books: Home of the Next Big Thing? E-book phenomenon Amanda Hocking's Tylle series was optioned for film a little over a year ago and continues to sell well in multiple formats. Thriller writer Barry Eisler walked away from a $500,000 offer from St. Martin's Press to self-publish The Detachment. Electronically and later in print through Amazon's Thomas and Mercer imprint. Comic books, from Spiderman and Superman to reported revivals of The Shadow. But just as YouTube has chang...

Writing the Relics: Why I No Longer Price My E-book at $7.99
http://buddhasrelics.blogspot.com/2011/09/why-i-no-longer-price-my-e-book-at-799.html
Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Why I No Longer Price My E-book at $7.99. It's simple, really: it wasn't selling. At all. I've therefore cut the price to a more palatable $4.99. And I'm going to keep it there. At $299, sales were modest, as were the commissions. At $7.99, the commissions were better but if you don't sell, you don't earn. And I'm grateful for every single one of them. John Y. Jones. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). John Y. Jones. View my complete profile. A Newbie's Guide to Publishing.

Gerard A. Whitfield: agosto 2011

Gerard A. Whitfield. Lunes, 8 de agosto de 2011. Review of The Prophet of Panamindorah by Abigail Hilton. This is something different. It is well read and works as an Audiobook. I originally listened to her other work - The Guild of The Cowry Catchers - which is set after this trilogy. She has created a unique world, with its own species, yet manages to convey human emotions to her characters. Well done Abigail and I look forward to further books in this series. Gerard A. Whitfield: Review of Tertiary by John Coppinger
http://gerardawhitfield.blogspot.com/2011/07/review-of-tertiary-by-john-coppinger.html
Gerard A. Whitfield. Viernes, 1 de julio de 2011. Review of Tertiary by John Coppinger. Another from my Pitch Me! SF Thread. This was a good sample size, unlike a couple of short stories which barely allowed a written sample after the author's notes and preamble. As I said, good promising start, with a believable storyline and characters. Sorting out the scene changes would have raised the mark. THREE AND A HALF out of FIVE from me.
