Hooks - running stuff on Github hooks - Drew DeVault’s Blog
https://drewdevault.com/2015/04/19/Hooks.html
Hooks - running stuff on Github hooks. I found myself in need of a simple tool for deploying a project on every git commit, but I didn’t have a build server set up. This led to Hooks - a very simple tool that allows you to run arbitrary commands when Github’s hooks execute. The configuration is very simple. In. Truecraft] repository=SirCmpwn/TrueCraft branch=master command=systemctl restart hooks valid ips=204.232.175.64/27,192.30.252.0/22,127.0.0.1. You may include any number of hooks. The.
The bug that hides from breakpoints - Drew DeVault’s Blog
https://drewdevault.com/2014/02/02/The-worst-bugs.html
The bug that hides from breakpoints. This is the story of the most difficult bug I ever had to solve. See if you can figure it out before the conclusion. For some years now, I’ve worked on a kernel for Texas Instruments calculators called KnightOS. The original bug report: When running the counting demo and switching between applications, the thread list graphics become corrupted. At this point, I started to get a little frustrated. How do I debug a problem that disappears when you debug it? I decided to...
Hacking on your TI calculator - Drew DeVault’s Blog
https://drewdevault.com/2014/02/25/Hacking-on-your-TI-calculator.html
Hacking on your TI calculator. I’ve built the KnightOS kernel. An open-source OS that runs on several TI calculator models, including the popular TI-83 family, and recently the new TI-84 Color Silver Edition. I have published some information on how to build your own operating sytsems for these devices, but I’ve learned a lot since then and I’m writing this blog post to include the lessons I’ve learned from other attempts. The assembler of your choice. The toolchain of your choice. For your toolchain, th...
osu!web - WebGL & Web Audio - Drew DeVault’s Blog

Web - WebGL and Web Audio. I’ve taken a liking to a video game called osu! Over the past few months. It’s a rhythm game where you use move your mouse to circles that appear with the beat, and click (or press a key) at the right time. It looks something like this:. In my tendency to start writing code related to every game I play, I’ve been working on a cool project called osu! This is a Javascript project that can:. Decompress osu beatmap archives. Decode the music with Web Audio. Web and the future.
Python’s datetime sucks - Drew DeVault’s Blog
https://drewdevault.com/2014/06/28/Python-datetime-sucks.html
I’ve been playing with Python for about a year now, and I like pretty much everything about it. There’s one thing that’s really rather bad and really should not be that bad, however - date and time support. It’s ridiculous how bad it is in Python. This is what you get with the standard datetime module:. The current time and strftime, with a reasonable set of properties. Time deltas with days, seconds, and microseconds and nothing else. Acceptable support for parsing dates and times. What you don’t get is:.

Drew Deurlington
I'm glad you're here. Welcome! I'm Drew Deurlington. AKA AD Works Design. Yes, the 'AD' logo was originally for "Andrew Deurlington," but I'm thinking it could also work for "Adventure Designer! Or, if we're being boring, the 'AD' could be short for "Advertising." Or. It could be all three! I'm a graphic designer from Truckee, California up by Lake Tahoe, and arguably the biggest cross-country skiing/superhero aficionado of all time. It's debatable, I’m sure, but I make a strong case for the title. If yo...

Discussions and Tutorials on Software Development. Discussions on software development, primarily web development including JSF, Python, PHP and JavaScript. Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Forin vs. Object.keys performance in JavaScript. For those curious, you may debate if the JavaScript for.in loop is faster than creating an array via Object.keys and iterating over that array. Patrick Marabeas Web Developer. Why is AngularJS this good? The things you can do with it are just ridiculously stupid. "This can't possibly work - huh." Then I start giggling maniacally. Gitdata.stargazers count }. Gitdata.forks count }. This is some detail. Commit.commit.message }.

Decentralize, decentralize, decentralize! I can hardly believe it, but the media is finally putting Facebook’s feet to the fire! No longer is it just the weird paranoid kids shouting at everyone to stop giving all of their information to these companies. We need to take this bull by the horns and drive it in a productive direction, and for that reason, it’s time to talk about decentralization, federation, and open source. Hack everything without fear. How to write an IRC bot. Check out the first article.

Drew's bike blog. Mostly stuff related to bikes, traveling, and art. 2 speed folder redux. 2 speed folder redux. January 3, 2017. February 21, 2017. New frame for the 2 speed folder After riding my 2 speed folder around Mt Hood last year (168 miles, 10,500 ft climbing, 15 hours) it struck me that this versatile bike has a lot of potential, and worthy of a specific build of its own. The frame was left over from a previous frame upgrade… Continue reading 2 speed folder redux. Bike ride to boulder lake.
