Magazine today, and it had an outer cover with the big label "Go green" to promote their new option to receive your subscription digitally. September 15, 2010. The Coat of Arms or Family Crest is an iconic image that has been around since Medieval times. The 3rd Grade students have taken the idea of the Coat of Arms and put a modern twist on it for a 'beginning of the year' project. Each student chose their shield design and divided the space into different sections to illustrate aspects of their personalities and unique interests. January 26, 2009. The 1st Grade students created artworks based on the book, "Owl Moon" by Jane Yolen and John Schoenherr. They worked on creating a collaged background of branches and the moon. Then they added the effect of snow with a toothbrush. January 16, 2011. Grade students combined science, recycling and art into this wintry artwork. They learned about the science behind snowflakes and how they are symmetrical, radial designs. After cutting out the snowflake designs, the students learned about the ancient art form of Mosaic and used recycled CD pieces to add a reflective quality to their artwork.
