Each bowl has been signed with the initials DL and the year 07. On the earlier bowls I used double v-cut engraving for both initials and the year. Later I switched to single cut kolrossing engraving (a wood decorating technique from Norway and other northern European countries. On the kolrossing signatures the dye is finely ground coffee. The marine theme servers carved in 2010 could be my most lyrical output to date. The new pieces carved in 2011 evolved from the 2010 forms, but on quite a different, more edgy tack. But please note. Are made to be used, but it is important to give them proper care. They are most suitable as servers for parties and special occasions. They can also take a purely aesthetic role in your interior or art collection. Some bowls are more fragile that others. After use, wash your bowl briefly with warm water. The first 3-D Studies were carved in early 2008 as gifts that I will be taking to Japan during the Country Workshops Craft Tour in October. After finishing about 12, I realized that these small pieces were a special format that should be continued and made available. All 3-D studies are signed with “DL” initials and a 2-digit year, by engraving or kolrossing. These pieces are not numbered, and purchase does not include a Certificate of Provenance or a photo CD.
