K Chesebro is obsessed with Art. Monday, January 21, 2013. Portrait VS Landscape Format. Some times I see my composition as being wider than it is tall and I paint a portrait in what is called the Landscape Orientation.that is with a rectangular canvas on its side. I once had someone curating a show tell me I had painted it "the wrong way". Back to portraits again. No surprise here! These are all 18X14 inches. However they violate the basic rule of composition in that the equal sides decrease variation.always risking less interesting composition. I like painting outdoors and trying to organize a painting surrounded by the great outdoors is a great exercise. K Chesebro is obsessed with Art. Sunday, March 18, 2012. This painting is also 30 x 40. It's title is "Psychologist With Shotgun". This was painted from a friends photo and was drawn in freehand and painted over two days. I prefer its freshness over the more worked over Ballerina. Heads and figures.sigh.the obsession persists. Well its March and this is my first post of the year. Although I have been remiss in my posting, I have been painting up a storm. I continue my plan on one still life a week.

K Chesebro is obsessed with Art. Thursday, June 28, 2012. The Big Friendly Fish. Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Small and Fast. Figure Oil Sketches. These are all small paintings executed in less than an hour. The first set of 7 are done from life. The last 4 are done from 5 minute charcoal sketches. From life one must simplify but painting from sketches one must amplify. This is totally different and a great exercise. I always seem looser at workshops. I am trying to hang on to that all the time.
