Located in the quaint town of Tofino, Driftwood Adventures is owned and operated by Mathieu Valade. Mat is a graduate of Thompson River University and holds a Bachelor of Tourism Management. He has been sea kayak guiding in Clayoquot Sound for eight years and he is eager to share his enthusiasm and knowledge of this magical place. Mat spends his winters managing and guiding in some of the greatest backcountry skiing operations in the province.

On most mornings, I walk along Ocean Beach, in San Francisco. It is the perfect way for me to start the day surrounded by nature, calm and beauty. One day, years ago, I saw the most beautiful piece of Driftwood and took it home. The wood had been polished to a satin finish by salt water and sand. There were unusual holes in it and its color was the softest hue of beige. When I got home, I put small candles in the holes and the wood took on a golden glow. It was magical. Beautiful.
