If you have already got a Category D1 or D on your driving licence that allows you to drive for "Hire or Reward" then you will already have this qualification under "Grandfathers Rights", however you will still need to do your periodic training. From 10th Sptember 2008. All commercial PCV drivers will need to complete 35 hours of training before 9th September 2013. The 35 hours can be split into 1 day sessions lasting 7 hours each. From 10th Sptember 2009. All commercial LGV drivers will need to complete 35 hours of training before 9th September 2014. The 35 hours can be split into 1 day sessions lasting 7 hours each.
