Install OpenFOAM 2.3.0. Currently for 14.04, this means building from source. The instructions can be found here. Install PyFoam following the directions found here. Installing the Virtual Wind Tunnel:. You'll need to make sure you have setup tools installed before running droneCFD:. Sudo apt-get install python-setuptools. DroneCFD can be installed with from pypy:. Sudo pip install droneCFD. Alternatively, latest version the development version can be pulled from Github:. Next, run a simulation!

DroneCFD was born from the frustrations caused by the difficuly of numerically simulating a small unmanned aircraft. DroneCFD has been developed using freely available code, OpenFOAM, so everyone can access the technology. DroneCFD requires only an STL file of a small unmanned aircraft. With a single command line call, and some patience, a user can see the lift and drag performance of the geometry:. DcRun - geometry myaircraft .stl - aoa -6 -4 -2 0 2 4 6 8 10.
