Drug Rep Toys: Welcome
http://drugreptoys.blogspot.com/2008/12/welcome.html
The toys and trinkets with which drug companies make themselves known to physicians. Tuesday, December 30, 2008. I am flattered to have been mentioned in the New York Times. And welcome to all visitors finding this page that way. I briefly allowed comments here, but too many people either didn't get the joke or were using the comments for making statements of their own. I prefer to let the pictures and my commentary stand on their own. Feel free to let me know if you disagree. Thanks for stopping by.
Drug Rep Toys: Uroxatral Stapler
http://drugreptoys.blogspot.com/2008/02/uroxatral-stapler.html
The toys and trinkets with which drug companies make themselves known to physicians. Sunday, February 24, 2008. I'm really not sure about the connection between staples and BPH, but the stapler works quite well. My name is Nathan Anderson, and I'm a resident in internal medicine. Wall Street Journal Blog. SBS - Australian television. All pictures and text are mine. Feel free to use them, but I'd appreciate a link in acknowledgment.
Drug Rep Toys: Crixivan White-out
http://drugreptoys.blogspot.com/2009/06/crixivan-white-out.html
The toys and trinkets with which drug companies make themselves known to physicians. Saturday, June 06, 2009. From reader Enid Vázquez comes this Crixivan white out. Somehow advertising the ability to erase mistakes along with an anti-HIV drug seems dangerous ground. My name is Nathan Anderson, and I'm a resident in internal medicine. Wall Street Journal Blog. SBS - Australian television. All pictures and text are mine. Feel free to use them, but I'd appreciate a link in acknowledgment.

http://drugreptoys.blogspot.com/2008/05/lovenox-scissors.html
The toys and trinkets with which drug companies make themselves known to physicians. Saturday, May 17, 2008. I'm not sure of the wisdom behind advertising an anti-coagulant with a sharp object, but then, there you are. My name is Nathan Anderson, and I'm a resident in internal medicine. Wall Street Journal Blog. SBS - Australian television. All pictures and text are mine. Feel free to use them, but I'd appreciate a link in acknowledgment.
Drug Rep Toys: Ser-Ap-Es pen knife
http://drugreptoys.blogspot.com/2009/01/ser-ap-es.html
The toys and trinkets with which drug companies make themselves known to physicians. Monday, January 05, 2009. Here's a drug I'm positive I've never seen prescribed. From an alert reader comes this vintage shot of a penknife advertising an old antihypertensive. There are three component medications in this, one of which is (and I swear I'm not making this up) an extract of Rauwolfia serpentina. My name is Nathan Anderson, and I'm a resident in internal medicine. Wall Street Journal Blog.

MPSA: December 2007
http://mpsa-tc.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance. Friday, December 7, 2007. Role of Depression in Diabetes and Osteoporosis. I've usually thought about osteoporosis being a fairly independent thing-you have low calcium intake or other risk factors (age, gender, ethnicity, family history) and you have a higher chance of having lower bone mass. Seems straightforward. Well, maybe not. A recent study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health. And published in the Archives of Internal Medicine. On it as well.
MPSA: January 2008
http://mpsa-tc.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance. Thursday, January 31, 2008. More HIV news: The FDA, just last week, approved a new drug, etravirine. Or Intelence. Here's the press release. A quick high point though: This non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor is effective when other NNRTI's have established resistance and is the first drug in this class that accomplishes this. Posted by Pat Martin's Desk. Thursday, January 31, 2008. Shopping for Health Care. In addition, a new website just started as well&#...
MPSA: Remember, the camera adds 10 pounds....
http://mpsa-tc.blogspot.com/2008/12/remember-camera-adds-10-pounds.html
Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance. Saturday, December 13, 2008. Remember, the camera adds 10 pounds. First off, Stuart Speedie is Dean Speedie's husband, and is a researcher in health information technology. He's also quoted in this article on telemedicine. This is going to be a short post-but I just want to make one connection that you likely have made already-how could this affect pharmacy? Same with MTM-do people have to be in the same room in order to deliver pharmaceutical care? And I invite you t...
MPSA: Ethical stuff
http://mpsa-tc.blogspot.com/2008/12/ethical-stuff.html
Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance. Thursday, December 4, 2008. First, for dramatic interlude, listen to this song. In the background while reading the next two posts. Just open it up in another window and enjoy. That's right, even though no one is looking at this, I'm demanding my own background music. I guess my ego knows no bounds. Awhile back I threw out that the WSJ, and specifically the WSJ blog. I'm pretty sure I'd be excluded for stepping on a nail as a kid. You would be excluded (yes, you!
MPSA: Why tell the real news when the fake news is so much funnier
http://mpsa-tc.blogspot.com/2008/11/why-tell-real-news-when-fake-news-is-so.html
Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance. Saturday, November 15, 2008. Why tell the real news when the fake news is so much funnier. I go to Comedy Central for news television, and I'm ok with that. I mean-who wouldn't? Now, that's just plain good stuff. Plus, he hit the news right on the head. Let's run through the highlights. I'll try and run through the topics he discusses in later posts, but I'll let you enjoy the video for right now. Posted by Pat Martin's Desk. Saturday, November 15, 2008.
MPSA: Will drug companies write my papers?
http://mpsa-tc.blogspot.com/2008/04/will-drug-companies-write-my-papers.html
Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance. Wednesday, April 16, 2008. Will drug companies write my papers? No, really-will they. Cuz that'd be sweet. Now why do I say drug companies instead of, oh, English Majors? Well, according to JAMA. It seems that they are more than willing to write them for academia studying their drugs. CNN. Posted by Pat Martin's Desk. Wednesday, April 16, 2008. Your blog article serves a nice awakening about the drug companies as per to your perspective. Great job! Drug Rep Toys Blog.

Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance. Saturday, April 19, 2008. Pharmacist's in Primary Care? So, could pharmacists help out? We know that we are trained in disease management-particularly those that are often controlled primarily by medication therapy-diabetes, anti-coagulation, asthma, heart failure.ummm.there's probably more but I read too good. Anyways, here's the article that they printed in Internal Medicine. I heard about it, where else, but on the Wall Street Journal Blog. Short rant here: Stupid ...

Yes, I *am* analyzing you. Thursday, April 05, 2007. 2007 Report on My Balls. Convinced me last night to make matzo ball soup for dinner. I had suggested matzo pizza (slather matzo with spaghetti sauce, top with shredded mozzarella, microwave 45 seconds), with promise of matzo ball soup tonight, but Mrs. Gerbil reminded me that she wouldn't be home for dinner tonight on account of her Maundy Thursday service. So I agreed to make matzo ball soup last night instead. Well, I am happy to say that my balls.

Here are my reasons:. 1 If everyone does the same ( and they do ), soon enough everything blends in and the news stops being the news. Tell me who possibly can distinguish between products if the main promoted difference is the type of coupon used or the tier level on Caremark or Medco. What is your USP, people? Teach, don’t sell! 3 Here is how Pha...
Drug Rep Toys
The toys and trinkets with which drug companies make themselves known to physicians. Saturday, June 06, 2009. This vintage drug rep toy is courtesy Dr. Jason Lau in Canada. Apparently the pictures seen through the viewmaster are 3D renditions of kidney damage. Though I'm uncertain which drug they were advertising with this, Roche does make Naprosyn, which will certainly damage your kidneys if taken inappropriately. Monday, January 05, 2009. Here's a drug I'm positive I've never seen prescribed. From ...
