spirit review | Rock & Rye

Tag Archives: spirit review. Spirit Review: Nikka Taketsuru 21yr. February 27, 2014. While most people equate single malt or single barrel whisky with being the cream of the crop, blended whisky is actually the most common as well as most consumed whisky in the world. And to taste some of the finest in blended malt whisky, look no further than the Japanese whisky distillers. Today were taking a look at the 21yr bottling. Finish: Long, oak and spice, balanced with a hint of peat. Bayou on the Bay. Post wa...
CARF Outdoors: August 2015

Sunday, August 30, 2015. Fly Fishing Poplar Creek. The GF wanted me out of the house, because, I was bugging her while she was baking cookies for a work event. So, I went fishing of course, but this time, I decided not to take any still pictures. Instead, I recorded some video. Check it out! I didn't realize my camera wasn't aimed down far enough, but you can still see what's going on. Friday, August 28, 2015. Exploring the Northwoods: 2015 - Part 1. Nick Eats Food: The Washington Red Hook
http://nickeatsfood.blogspot.com/2011/07/washington-red-hook.html
Tuesday, July 12, 2011. The Washington Red Hook. One evening I was at a bar. The kind of bar where you tell the bartender to make you a drink and they create something that you've never tasted before. Upon a request for a nice whiskey drink that wasn't too sweet, the bartender came back with a creation of complex flavor that was not easy to pick apart. The bar was Tavern Law. In Seattle - the drink was a Red Hook. Luckily, the Serious Eats. Folks were around to provide a recipe for this tasty treat.
Obsidian Portal Card | The Drunken Pressman
http://thedrunkenpressman.com/2013/04/obsidian-portal-card
One of my first freelance jobs a decade ago when I was a young pup was creating a logo for a tabletop management system called Obsidian Portal. Not knowing anything about D&D or any tabletop system, I went with a tribal tattoo design for their logo. Wanting to modernize it without losing the decade-old identity, I created another logo, a more rugged beast, which I’ve ghosted behind the full original one. We’re doing another round of letterpress cards for them as a backer reward!
Dry Fly Washington Wheat | The Drunken Pressman
http://thedrunkenpressman.com/2013/04/dry-fly-washington-wheat
Dry Fly Washington Wheat. Growing up in Washington, I was naturally drawn to a whiskey from my native land. Dry Fly’s. Washington Wheat has a soft and light-orange color that can fool you into thinking the nose will be the same. It starts with a smooth spice that masks a subtle fruity flavor underneath. Draw in a few more times and you pick up the oak barrels used for aging. I’ll give Washington Wheat 4 and a half cheers out of five. Raise that tumbler and enjoy!

The ordinary thoughts and ramblings of a photographer's wife, business partner, stepmom, crazy dog-mom, and sober lover of this life. Welcome to Sarahdise. Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Well, yes, I suppose I am. Blogging. Uh, gosh. Well, hmm. I doubt anyone even reads this, which is probably good, because I think I started this more for me than anything.
