We hiked along the Lake Shore Trail, a 5-mile loop around Lake Norman that weaves through the woods around the lake, up and down rolling hills, with plenty of beach access to play in the water. November 25, 2010. I took this photograph today on a morning hike through a nearby state park. The day began gray and foggy, with a steady rain. I was determined, though, and I headed out to the park despite the weather. You just have to persevere, and when you do you are often rewarded. In this photograph, I love the juxtaposition of the bright red leaf peeking out from underneath the dull brown ones. It’s a reminder to me of the rewards to be gained from slowing down and looking around. Leave one →.
