A Walker's Ramblings: September 2014
http://walkerramblings.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Thoughts on the state of the world from David Cotton. Might also include some walking. Monday, 1 September 2014. Last year was perhaps a record for coastal walkers, with several people walking the coast in one go or in sections. However the last couple of months have been fairly quiet. David Higgins finished his walk in July, meaning Peter Hill. Was left attempting the coast in one go. He can be followed on Facebook. And he has a fundraising page. The best of luck to him. A Walker's Ramblings: May 2014
http://walkerramblings.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Thoughts on the state of the world from David Cotton. Might also include some walking. Wednesday, 21 May 2014. Last night we attended a hustings for the local ward elections for South Cambridgeshire District Council. Due to be held on Thursday. We had looked at the literature produced by all the candidates and had been unable to come to a decision. When we heard there was a hustings tonight, we decided to go along and get a close look at the candidates. Of 1,200 to 1,500 homes. The group set up to stop t...

A Walker's Ramblings: August 2014
http://walkerramblings.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Thoughts on the state of the world from David Cotton. Might also include some walking. Saturday, 9 August 2014. I love the North Norfolk Coast Path. I have walked it, or parts of it, on countless occasions. I even like its less-regarded partner, the Roman Road-following Peddar's Way, which heads arrow-like to the coast from near Thetford. Thanks to Griffmonster's blog. I've now learnt that the trail has been extended for 21 miles southeast as far as Sea Palling. Although perhaps I could take him with me.

A Walker's Ramblings: February 2015
http://walkerramblings.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Thoughts on the state of the world from David Cotton. Might also include some walking. Thursday, 19 February 2015. It's out there, somewhere. and it's going to get us. As any devote of science fiction knows (or anyone who has seen the ludicrous films Deep Impact or Armageddon), life as we know it stands at risk from impact from celestial bodies such as asteroids or meteors. And we are finding more all the time. The three white objects rotating around the centre at speed are the innermost planets, Mercury...

http://walkerramblings.blogspot.com/2015/05/some-thoughts-after-election-aftermath_19.html
Thoughts on the state of the world from David Cotton. Might also include some walking. Tuesday, 19 May 2015. Some thoughts after the election aftermath: final thoughts. So that is my view of the current situation. The impetus lies with the Conservatives and the SNP, and politics over the next five years may well be defined by the relationship between those two parties. This is how I rate the position of the political parties:. Conservatives are undoubtedly in the best position. Posted by David Cotton.

Thoughts on the state of the world from David Cotton. Might also include some walking. Monday, 18 May 2015. Some thoughts after the election aftermath: the Conservatives. The MP for Penrith and the Border since 2010. He has a true boy's own backstory, including helping to run two Iraqi provinces. Even better, he is young and his constituency is in the north, a factor I will address below. Posted by David Cotton. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Walker's Ramblings: Some thoughts after the election aftermath: the SNP
http://walkerramblings.blogspot.com/2015/05/some-thoughts-after-election-aftermath_17.html
Thoughts on the state of the world from David Cotton. Might also include some walking. Sunday, 17 May 2015. Some thoughts after the election aftermath: the SNP. The SNP had a great election, but the result was not quite what they would have wanted. They are now a large minority party, whilst they would have been hoping to gain more power in Westminster by supporting (whether by coalition or confidence and supply) the Labour party. Even the SNP voters who are in favour of independence may not have that ai...

A Walker's Ramblings: January 2015
http://walkerramblings.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Thoughts on the state of the world from David Cotton. Might also include some walking. Tuesday, 27 January 2015. There has been much talk recently about the forthcoming general election debates. David Cameron said he wanted the Green Party to take part in the debates, his thinking being that their presence would harm Labour in the same way that UKIP's presence harms his party. In response, some people have accused Cameron of cowardice. I find this rather strange. They may not run into burning buildings t...

A Walker's Ramblings: Railway planning chaos
http://walkerramblings.blogspot.com/2015/06/railway-planning-chaos.html
Thoughts on the state of the world from David Cotton. Might also include some walking. Friday, 26 June 2015. So the much-vaunted plans to upgrade many of Britain's railway lines have hit the buffers hard. What has happened? Network Rail (NR) divides its agreed work into five-year control periods. The current period is known as CP5, which runs from April 2014 to March 2019. NR has been told it can spend £38.5 billion on its work during that period, a figure which includes: (1). Yesterday it was announced ...

A Walker's Ramblings: Some thoughts after the election aftermath: the Greens
http://walkerramblings.blogspot.com/2015/05/some-thoughts-after-election-aftermath_15.html
Thoughts on the state of the world from David Cotton. Might also include some walking. Friday, 15 May 2015. Some thoughts after the election aftermath: the Greens. The Greens had a mixed election. They stood in many more seats than ever before, but did not manage to increase their number of MPs, with Caroline Lucas remaining their sole representative at Westminster. The Green party leader, Natalie Bennett, failed to get elected in her seat of Holborn and St Pancras. The EU referendum in 2015 has to be an...
