Leslie’s article is similar in the sense that it contains evidence of Jews in China by Arab geographers and explorers like Pelliot. It parallels Cansdale’s article when discussing routes traveled by the merchants. It briefly mentions religions that were practiced in the area during this time. The Heart of Asia. Just another WordPress.com weblog. We know that the early caves of Dunhuang were repeatedly decorated with Buddhist figures and scenes from the Lotus Sutra. We know that a monk named Yuezun had a vision of the Buddha and the result was many cave temples commonly known as Caves of the Thousand Buddhas .
