This is a blog, like the name says, about my hobbies. Fly fishing, making beer, fly tying, music, beer tasting, and anything else that pops up. Monday, March 11, 2013. Things have been incredibly busy lately so I haven't posted. I've fished, because there's always time for that, but just haven't posted about it. Heck, I haven't even brewed any beer, and that's bad because I've had such big plans. What A Beautiful Day. First Fish On A Dry For The Year. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Some Other Cool People.

This is a blog, like the name says, about my hobbies. Fly fishing, making beer, fly tying, music, beer tasting, and anything else that pops up. Sunday, January 13, 2013. We finished the day off with an excellent meal and a few beers at Spruce Creek Tavern. If you're in the area, I would reccomend this palce. I've been there a few times and the food is always good, and they always have Otto's Spruce Creek Lager on tap. You can't beat that. The fish in this stream are absolutely beautiful. How to Convert a...

This is a blog, like the name says, about my hobbies. Fly fishing, making beer, fly tying, music, beer tasting, and anything else that pops up. Sunday, April 28, 2013. The Quill Gordon Summit is a small get together that some of us from the paflyfish. The Hendrickson hatch was fairly strong at times and the fish rose to take both the wet, and dry fly the whole time. This alone would have made for an epic day, but the action still wasn't over. This hatch was not as strong as the Hendrickson hatch, and tha...

This is a blog, like the name says, about my hobbies. Fly fishing, making beer, fly tying, music, beer tasting, and anything else that pops up. Monday, March 18, 2013. I got out to fish again on Friday. It was supposed to warm up, the key word was supposed. 35 degrees not 44, and windy. 35, I can handle but when you throw in a consistent wind, it just kicked my ass for about three hours. That is until Olives started to hatch, then I didn't feel a thing. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Some Other Cool People.

Swingin' In the Rain: Is it Fall Already?
http://swinginpnw.blogspot.com/2014/10/is-it-fall-already.html
Thursday, October 16, 2014. Is it Fall Already? This rain should push fish up the river (and fisherman) and we should start seeing some chums roll in as well which are always a fun battle. Fall is one of the best times of the year in the PNW. It is much more fun to fish when the river is full of action and splashing fish with the orange trees in the background. Fiberglass Canoe Trip 2 | Donfishin

Fiberglass Canoe Trip 2. July 9, 2015. At first she was paranoid and was determined to jump back on shore. I quickly pushed off and found her piled up at my feet shaking. In the process of keeping a dog in the boat, pushing off, and not trying to fall in I managed to hook myself in the pants (of course it’s the one fly that I didn’t smash the barb on). I kept the trolling motor off and paddled around for a little. She finally relaxed after I gave her my cushion to sit on. Where’s the fish dad? I enjoyed ...

The Bassassinator Fly tying tutorial. July 23, 2015. The Bassassinator is a fly I came up with one evening while thinking about making a fly that would have plenty of baitfish like movement and push water when stripped while being having a very slow sink rate. It will almost suspend when stopped. I have fished it many times recently and the Smallmouth and Hybrid bass have been crushing it. Here are the basic materials needed to tie this fly. Now take a small clump of deer body hair and spin it on the rem...

Sunday on the Water with The Midwest Drift! July 20, 2015. Around 7 am we unloaded his Towee. Boat in the rain and hit the water. I told Luke that there were some large carp in the outlet but they we picky and hard to get to eat. He took that as a challenge and as soon as we found some he began cycling throu...

January 19, 2016. It seems that I have been dropping the ball when it comes to keeping things rolling around here. I would like to blame this on poor water conditions (high and dirty) and the currently freezing cold weather, but it’s more due to my lack of time. I have however recently prioritized a few things and … Continue reading →. Travel, Exploration, and Everything Else. Pere Marquette – First trip. November 12, 2015. The Lack of Fishing.
