Delicate feather-like leaves with squared-off shape. Leaflets mostly the same length. Leaves arranged in whorls (circles) of 3 to 5 around stem. Long, spaghetti-like stems, sometimes pinkish. Stems often branch near the surface. Usually 7 to 10 leaflet pairs. Leaves usually stiff when out of the water.

Please, before entering or leaving any water body: Inspect remove any visible mud or plants. Drain water from your boat, motor, trailer, live well and bait containers. Dispose of any unwanted live bait in the trash. Wash your boat and trailer at a car wash to remove invisible species or allow it to dry for 5 or more days.

As I write this, we are 12 weeks into 2018, and there have been 17 school shootings in the US where someone was injured or killed. 14 per week. And, if you look outside of schools, there have been to date 50 mass shootings. Where 4 or more people were injured or killed, not counting the shooter. 50 since January 1, 2018. February 26, 2018.
