シュノーケル カヌー 鳩間島 バラス島. 1972年に日本で24番目の国立公園 西表国立公園 に指定され、2007年の拡張で 西表石垣国立公園 と改称されている。 島を構成する古見岳 こみだけ、標高469.5m 、テドウ山 標高441.2m 、御座岳 ござだけ、標高420.4m の三峰は琉球諸島全体の中でも屈指の標高を有する。 10,386haが西表石垣国立公園の特別地域に指定されており、そのうち浦内川の源流部が特別保護地区 1,786ha である。 学名 Prionailurus bengalensis iriomotensis. 2007年 絶滅危惧IB類からIA類へ 環境省レッドリスト 現存種の中でもっとも絶滅の恐れが高い. イエネコとほぼ同じくらいの大きさで 体重約3 5kg 、やや胴長短足気味で尾は太く、体には小さなまだら模様、目の周りに白いくまどりがあり、顔つきはトラなどの大型野生ネコに似ています。 明け方 夕暮れにとくに活発に活動する夜行性 薄明薄暮型 で、単独で暮らします。 岡村麻生 2008 絶滅危惧種の保全イリオモテヤマネコ 日本の哺乳類学 中巻 東京大学出版会.
