DUNCSBLOG: May 2009
http://duncsmilne.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 24, 2009. Mid Winter Camp #1. Training for the Canadian Ironman last year was tough. Not only did Amanda and I have a little baby girl named Alex on the way it was also the most miserable winter I have ever experienced. I think it rained every day for the first month of Alex's life! Camp 1 has just been completed. The plan was as follows. Day 1; AM Swim followed by a 100km Ride around Taupo roads and a 60min off road run. Hrs 20 min's. I had not done this ride before and was expecting 5hr...
DUNCSBLOG: April 2009
http://duncsmilne.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 6, 2009. Fire up the engines again. Last Thursday Physio Jonty. From Body Dynamics gave me the OK. To get out and run to see how the recovering body felt. So up to the "Craters of the Moon" mountain bike park I went on Friday to do so light running on soft dirt tracks. I'm. Happy to say everything felt fine, no jarring and my tender right hip was not an issue. In fact I felt great! Normally after a month of no running my cardio. I have also had a couple of rides on my new Litespeed. I go in...

Wednesday, January 13, 2010. A couple of weeks of reflection, a few pies, too many Gins and some quality time with my Girlz has provided some much needed clarity and a pathway forward after the disaster that was 2 weekends ago. Unfortunately, a DNF next to my name, very gutting and my 3rd in my Tri career. I don't want to bore you all with the inane details so I will keep it short so here goes! See you at the races. DUNCSBLOG: August 2010
http://duncsmilne.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 1, 2010. It is great to have finally found the real issue, a little disappointing that all the work I had done to fix other diagnosis was a waste of my time. I had worked really hard to correct Patella Femoral Syndrome, not wonder there was no improvement! No matter, time to look forward and get excited about the summer. I have been training well in the pool and on the bike over the last month. A PB 1km TT in the pool and some time in a Flume (see pics) were the swimming highlights. Http:/...
DUNCSBLOG: February 2009
http://duncsmilne.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Hi all, Ive been a bit slack not posting anything for 2 weeks now, apologies! The last couple of blocks of training have been tough but I'm. Very happy with how Ive have got through everything. Tuning up for race day brings you pretty close to that line of being ultimately prepared, or of overdoing it and crashing with illness or injury. I haven't. Is huge for Taupo. Are you ready to go? Are you going to beat Cam Brown this year? I have to turn them into positives and remember.

On the Drops: My First iPhone App
http://onthedrops.blogspot.com/2009/09/my-first-iphone-app.html
A blog for jotting down thoughts from training, racing and any other thing. Thursday, September 03, 2009. My First iPhone App. Here's a screen shot of my first iPhone app. It is all a learning experience for me and to start things off I decided on a simple weight and calorie tracker. The calorie side is still a work in progress. I do have the track weight side going which includes a graph to show progress. This graph currently shows the data points, a last 30 days average and a goal weight line.

A blog for jotting down thoughts from training, racing and any other thing. Saturday, July 25, 2009. Get fit with 6 minutes a day. I read in an article recently about the idea of being able to get fit and loose weight with only 6 minutes a day. This really intrigued me as I now have limited time to train. Joe Friel also blogged about it (http:/ is.gd/1CGsA). The catch? Well you have to do it at a very high intensity. But I couldn't just do 6 minutes! That although the title of the article is not sensible!

A blog for jotting down thoughts from training, racing and any other thing. Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Some favorite swim sets. Here are a few of my favorite sets. These are all pretty much based on swim squads at the Teps in Auckland that I used to frequent. See Haydn Wooley at Futuredreams.co.nz for coaching or stroke correction. 400m warm up (as you feel, e.g. 200free, 200 back). N x 100m on Swim Interval (e.g. 1'45" or 1'40" or 1'30" ). Build up to 30 or more. 200m warm down very easy. Minimax: 6...

A blog for jotting down thoughts from training, racing and any other thing. Thursday, November 27, 2008. At the people's tri in Auckland. Tony got it again but this time by only 9 seconds! Maybe next time. I just have to get the run time down to 37 minutes. Links to this post. Tuesday, November 04, 2008. Well another great race, but this year with not so good outcomes. Someone got away (the eventual winner I think) I did have to do a bit of chasing before Whitianga to bring it back. Then these two guys i...
On the Drops: Best ever Trainer Session?
http://onthedrops.blogspot.com/2009/08/best-ever-trainer-session.html
A blog for jotting down thoughts from training, racing and any other thing. Friday, August 28, 2009. Best ever Trainer Session? One of Tony's great sessions that I have never been able to nail is the old 10 x 3minute session. In the past I have either started to fast and blown or not gone hard enough and finished well but under done. Bay of Plenty Time Trail champs and I wanted to see where I was at. At 25Km for the distance I figured this would be a good session to test me on. Heart Rate and Cadence.

A blog for jotting down thoughts from training, racing and any other thing. Saturday, April 04, 2009. The Team Time Trial. Eric Drower and Dave Mann were the other two and they are considerably better at this kind of thing than me! The course was 40Km out and back two lapper, in Gordonton. It's probably pretty well known to the Secondary Schools and they use this for the North Island champs. Unfortunately the road surface is not that great so is usually a slowish course. Eric lifted it up to over 50!
