Full-time mama, part-time librarian, wanna-be writer. Wednesday, April 13, 2011. March came in like a lamb and went out like a lion, and now the April showers are here. Time to start thinking about Earth Day, Easter Eggs, and gardening. Who's got Spring Fever? If you're looking for ideas or inspiration to get outside or to make some greener changes in your life this spring, look no further. Here are some new books we've been enjoying. The Dundee Writer: Back to School
http://dundeewriter.blogspot.com/2011/09/back-to-school.html
Full-time mama, part-time librarian, wanna-be writer. Saturday, September 3, 2011. I'm prepping J big time right now as he starts back to school on Tuesday. He's playing it tough, but I can tell he is nervous. I've been trying to build excitement and interest with this great new picture book from Laura Ljungkvist called Follow the Line to School. Stephanie, known as Ooph. On Twitter, covered all the bases here. I'm bookmarking this for the future. Wish us luck on Tuesday! On Adventures in Babywearing!
The Dundee Writer: ::milestones::
http://dundeewriter.blogspot.com/2011/09/milestones.html
Full-time mama, part-time librarian, wanna-be writer. Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Some kids pick flowers for their moms. Mine picks up stones. Whether we are taking a walk around the block or exploring a nature trail, our pockets come home a little heavier with rocks and stones J hand selects for us. Some C and I drop and leave outside. (How many concrete bits do we really need? But others we save. Both C and I have held on to some of these stones. We cherish them for what they symbolize:. I remember m...
The Dundee Writer: Discipline: Part 1
http://dundeewriter.blogspot.com/2011/11/discipline-part-1.html
Full-time mama, part-time librarian, wanna-be writer. Thursday, November 10, 2011. I've been thinking about the word discipline a lot lately, and I think it's worthy of a series of posts. It started because I felt that we were in need of some major shake-ups in terms of the tools we are using at home with the kids. Nothing was working anymore and we were all feeling frustrated. I also felt like our expectations and the consequences we turned to were consistently inconsistent. On the other hand, if J's ch...

thingy thing: August 2009
http://thingyd.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 30, 2009. Well, the dust has settled, the decorations and luggage have finally been put away, and the pictures are being ever so slowly decided on. T and I are man and wife, and I finally. Feel like life is back to normal. I'll have more pictures up soon for the wedding and honeymoon, but right now I thought I'd share my favorite quick meal of the summer, staring grape tomatoes and basil! This was another pleasant garden surprise, since I totally planted it at the wrong time (knowingly, I ...
thingy thing: Beer, beer, beer, beer!
http://thingyd.blogspot.com/2010/10/beer-beer-beer-beer.html
Friday, October 29, 2010. Beer, beer, beer, beer! As some of you may know, my husband and a couple of his long time friends are in the process of starting a micro-brewery. The past year has been working towards building a business plan, getting an SBA loan and investors, finding a space. Interesting at times - but, ya know, mostly kind of, well, unexciting details. It's a whole lotta shiny stainless steel, right? So, hopefully you'll be seeing this in a store sometime in the next year or so! View my comp...

Sunday, August 29, 2010. I have a blog! Yes, apparently I've forgotten (again) about that. This reminds me of my high school Latin teacher, when we were wasting too much time in class talking about Days of Our Lives. "Tempus fugits class! Once we heard that we knew we had to get back to conjugating and translating. That's the only excuse I have for dropping the ball here. Tempus fugits, and it just won't stop. Not that I haven't been up to stuff. Apparently I love a classic car very close up. AwkwardFami...
thingy thing: Some Spring Stuff
http://thingyd.blogspot.com/2010/04/some-sring-stuff.html
Thursday, April 15, 2010. Every year the rhubarb action in my garden freaks me out a little. It's just so weird, ya know? Makes me think of an alien baby - I know, it's gross, but I can't help it! But then it starts to look more like a plant, and you turn around and it's big enough to hide small children and livestock in. This was the garden a few weeks ago, and things certainly don't look quite as bleak now. But for reals. They're still pretty even if they're not exactly hot off the presses!
thingy thing: June 2009
http://thingyd.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 9, 2009. Pretties from the Garden. I had a little time to wander around in the garden today (willfully ignoring the weeds, and overgrown spinach), so I cut a few flowers and snapped some pictures of the pretty things to be seen there in early June. Here's the end of this year's columbine. I can only assume there are seeds in there.Anyway, they look pretty cool - kind of like jester's hats, right? Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). made in a treehouse: Fall
http://madeinatreehouse.blogspot.com/2011/10/fall.html
Saturday, October 22, 2011. One morning last week when it was wet and gray and I was feeling a bit miserable, I decided to pack up Eliza and head to our closest metro park, Blendon Woods. There were a lot of wet leaves to glide through, I had a wandering toddler as my hiking partner and we saw wild turkeys in the parking lot. Three things that made staying miserable, pretty much impossible. Even on rainy days there is still so much I love about fall. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Go back in time.

thingy thing: Out at the Farmhouse
http://thingyd.blogspot.com/2010/09/out-at-farmhouse.html
Saturday, September 25, 2010. Out at the Farmhouse. Last weekend T and I went out to our brother in law's land, so that T could switch out his trail camera SD cards. Sounds totally snoozeroo, but it's so pretty out there I took my camera to catch some pictures of the early fall. This is the same farm where we were married last year - here's the 1830-40's house all dressed up for the ceremony. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. thingy thing: October 2009
http://thingyd.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Earlier this month, T and I finally dug up the carrots from the garden, and I'm telling you, root vegetables are officially the most rewarding thing to plant. Every time a new clump got forked up, we got the biggest kick out of the fact that "Hey! There were actually carrots growing in there! The problem was then - we have about 85 million (overgrown) carrots. They smelled spectacular, and were all kinds of crazy shapes (thinning out is hard to do! Links to this post. I just ...
