By the time the second Sir Richard Bulkeley died in 1710, the village of Dunlavin was already well established as one of the principal settlements in west Wicklow. Monday, February 04, 2008. A chronicler of Dunlavin Fr. John Francis Shearman. John Francis Shearman was born in 1831 at 19 High Street, Kilkenny. He was ordained at Maynooth in 1862 and took up his first curacy at Dunlavin. Fr. Shearman remained in Dunlavin for five years (1862-1867) before moving to Howth.
