Going Dutch: February 2008
http://dutchhappening.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Grace and Ross are back in the colonies. Friday, February 29, 2008. Syntax and Colours and Lions, Oh My! A long overdue update from the past few weeks:. Another exciting event that occurred about a month ago, centered around a trip to the studio of this designer:. For those of you who don't know him, Rick is a very important person in recent graphic design history, namely for being a founding member of this magazine and studio:. If you still aren't sure, maybe you'll recognize this well-known poster:.
Going Dutch: May 2008
http://dutchhappening.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Grace and Ross are back in the colonies. Sunday, May 25, 2008. I guess we've been kind of busy lately. Ross has been working on his typeface day and night, and I don't really know what I've been doing exactly, but clearly not blogging. I still don't have anything to say, but thought I'd post some photos from the last couple weeks. A tourist shop in Amsterdam:. A park in The Hague:. They have the best cappuccino. A performance I watched the other night. Sunday, May 18, 2008. Their mission was to carve the...
Going Dutch: Last look at The Hague
http://dutchhappening.blogspot.com/2008/07/last-look-at-hague.html
Grace and Ross are back in the colonies. Sunday, July 13, 2008. Last look at The Hague. The same goes for Ross' parents. They were there to see Ross' graduation, and be on a holiday, but they also got put to work. Thank you, Jill and Gordon. I don't think we ever took the beauty of the city and the country for granted; it was always beautiful to both of us; but in those last few days and weeks, it was almost painful. I know one day we'll be back. July 13, 2008 at 2:44 PM. Paris to Calgary in 24 hours.
Going Dutch: June
http://dutchhappening.blogspot.com/2008/06/june.html
Grace and Ross are back in the colonies. Monday, June 23, 2008. June's blurry. Here are some of the more memorable events. The weather is not-so sunny, but it's warm. The new season of herring was celebrated with a public festival at Scheveningen. Dutch people love black licorice candy (drop). Tanya and Abi visited for a few days. Abi just moved here for school, and Tanya lived here for a semester a few years ago, so she remembered her way around. It was really fun. Guess what the Italians made:. We only...
Going Dutch: April 2008
http://dutchhappening.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Grace and Ross are back in the colonies. Sunday, April 27, 2008. Sightseeing IV: Rietveld-Schröeder Huis in Utrecht. We went for a guided tour of the Reitveld-Schröeder House, which should be familiar – maybe only vaguely – to those of you who took Design History as the de Stijl. Our ticket also included admission to the Dick Bruna Huis, a museum devoted to Holland's – if not one of the world's – most famous creator of children's stories. A graphic designer by trade, he is most famous for his character o...

Your Way to Norway: Divided They Fall
http://bmilne.blogspot.com/2007/12/divided-they-fall.html
Your Way to Norway. Friday, December 7, 2007. I realize I just made a post a few minutes ago, but I couldn't let this pass by: http:/ www.aftenposten.no/english/local/article2141735.ece. The idea of this just makes me laugh a little, although I suppose war is never a funny thing. If you're at all interested in what is happening in Norway, Aftenposten is a great source of news. Your Way to Norway: Holland, Home of Heineken
http://bmilne.blogspot.com/2007/12/holland-home-of-heineken.html
Your Way to Norway. Tuesday, December 4, 2007. Holland, Home of Heineken. I'm sure that my posts about how Oslo is unreasonably expensive are starting to get a little tiresome, but here's one more - It's short, so don't worry. 349NOK, or 65 Canadian Dollars. Here's the evidence:. Here's a link to a good story all about the world's richest country: The Country That's Got It All. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). No Time For Studying. Your Way to Norway: November 2007
http://bmilne.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Your Way to Norway. Wednesday, November 21, 2007. Have you ever tried a thirty dollar bacon lettuce and tomato (BLT) sandwich? I have. It happened in the Oslo International Airport. It was followed shortly after by a seven dollar americano. Good news is that I'll soon be in the Netherlands for a brief respite from this account-draining/credit-inspiring country. . It's snowing in Oslo! Sunday, November 18, 2007. For those of you who are interested, here's my kitchen:. Friday, November 16, 2007. I'm going ...
Your Way to Norway: What Happens You Break Your Only Plate?
http://bmilne.blogspot.com/2007/12/what-happens-you-break-your-only-plate.html
Your Way to Norway. Monday, December 3, 2007. What Happens You Break Your Only Plate? I admire those bloggers who are able to 'stick with it' and keep things updated - I would consider myself a better person if I was more like that. I mentioned above that I had been in Den Hagg recently (I used to call it The Hague, but Den Hagg is so much more authentic, and real). In between Den Hagg and Oslo, I spent a day with Ross and Grace in Brussels. These photos summarize my time there fairly well:. What Happens...
Your Way to Norway: December 2007
http://bmilne.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Your Way to Norway. Tuesday, December 11, 2007. My bags are packed. My room is clean and empty. I'm experiencing many of the same emotions I felt when I left Calgary four months ago - I can't wait to get home and see everyone, but at the same time I've developed a real affinity for Norway and am sad to say goodbye to all of the friends I've made here. . Next post will be from Calgary! It might even include pictures! Saturday, December 8, 2007. Despite having washed everything that could have come in cont...
Your Way to Norway: Time Is Running Out
http://bmilne.blogspot.com/2007/12/time-is-running-out.html
Your Way to Norway. Wednesday, December 5, 2007. Time Is Running Out. I have just under a week left in Oslo, and I'm still discovering all sorts of amazing groups/galleries/stores/parks. I'm making a list of all the things I have left to do, or want to do, before I leave, and there's no way I'm going to get through all of it, at least not without sacrificing some school along the way, which I've probably already done enough of. . Your Way to Norway: August 2007
http://bmilne.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Your Way to Norway. Friday, August 31, 2007. First Day in Oslo. Today’s plan is to go and find my student residence, check in with the police station, and figure out when and where I have classes. There’s a part of me that is concerned that I have missed an important deadline or two and will not be able to attend classes here. fingers are crossed! I just tried the sausage. It’s more like a warm pepperoni stick, not dissimilar to what is found at Keith’s Deli. Here’s the law school:. 2:50 pm Oslo Time....
Your Way to Norway: September 2007
http://bmilne.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
Your Way to Norway. Saturday, September 29, 2007. It's 4:32am, and what must be the longest game of Risk I have ever played has just ended. Nobody won this game. Anyway, that bit above about pizzas and tacos being popular is no lie. More than anything else, Norwegians seem to love Old El Paso and Grandiosa (the equivalent of Delissio in Canada). So far I've only tried the frozen pizzas, but Mexican isn't too far off, I'm sure. Maybe tonight? Wednesday, September 26, 2007. Kilograms v. Pounds. I went to t...

Your Way to Norway: October 2007
http://bmilne.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Your Way to Norway. Wednesday, October 31, 2007. It's hard to believe it's November already. Who Loves The Sun. The days are definitely getting shorter. From about 3:00pm until the sun goes down entirely, Oslo sits somewhere between day and night. It's a strange feeling, and apparently it will only get worse as November progresses. . It's now 4:30pm, and the streetlights are on. . Thursday, October 25, 2007. Today was perhaps the best day I've had in Oslo yet! And the Akershus Slott (Fortress). I'm now s...

Going Dutch
Grace and Ross are back in the colonies. Wednesday, August 6, 2008. It's been a slice. I'd been putting this off for the last few weeks, always thinking I'd get to it eventually. Knowing that as more time went on, the less relevant a final post would become, also provided little incentive. I'd more or less resigned myself to the fact our blog had ended without that symbolic last post until we discovered this when we woke up today:. And so, one last time:. Sunday, July 13, 2008. To spend one night in Pari...

Dutch Harbor
Alaska News and Info. And there it went. The season finale was, as it had to be, more of a post-script than an actual ending. I think most would agree that the climax of the season was Phil’s illness and passing, and it shadowed everything that came after. 8230;”, to which Edgar clearly had no comeback. I guess we’re to assume these hard times were caused by Edgar’s “non-sobriety issues”. Will Edgar actually quit fishing?
