Fairbanks in National Geographic. January 8, 2013. Anne Kristoff recently wrote a piece about Fairbanks in National Geographic. 8216;s ” My City” feature that I just found wonderful. It’s heartening to see that someone relatively new to such a unique place as Fairbanks has really embraced the quirks. My Most Grateful Thanksgiving. November 28, 2013. Driving the Parks Highway at Thanksgiving time is always an adventure. After hearing from a friend this morning that her drive from Anchorage to Fairbanks last night was an icy nine hour adventure that involved, among other things, being towed out of the ditch by an ice cream truck, I thought I would share memories of my best Thanksgiving ever.
