Wednesday, May 19, 2004. Vanity, vanity, all is vanity! Time passes too quickly. It has been three months since I had written anything in my blog. Yet it feels just like yesterday. It is frightening to think about how quickly the months go by, even though you are not consciously aware of its passing. I would enter my thirties, unaware that I am at the halfway point in my journey through the natural human lifespan. Would I wonder if something about my life could have been done differently? Missed opportun...

Just Amleth: Cormac McCarthy's "The Road"
http://amleth.blogspot.com/2009/06/cormac-mccarthys-road.html
Sunday, June 21, 2009. Cormac McCarthy's "The Road". I read this book last year, and as far as I recall, it was one of the bleakest books I have ever read. Heck, even the cover page alone looks depressing. Here's a short review I wrote about it in Facebook:. One question that casts a pall throughout the whole book is this - why even bother surviving at all? The only redeeming grace is the father's love for the son and vice-versa - they both recognise that the only reason for them to continue living is be...

Just Amleth: One Year Hiatus
http://amleth.blogspot.com/2008/06/one-year-hiatus_05.html
Thursday, June 05, 2008. It has been almost a year since I've updated this blog. So much has happened in the last year! I laughed. I cried. I loved. I hated. I was filled with joy. I was filled with deep sorrow. God has blessed me abundantly. God has humbled me. God has refined me through trials - I have gone through the valley of the shadow of death. But God has never abandoned me. Even in my darkest days, He was with me, and I have been deeply humbled by Him. It was just . perfect. Empire of the Sun.

Sunday, November 02, 2003. Eating hamsters - Part III. This continues from the immediate aftermath of the events described in. Eating hamsters - Part II. The mother had two other babies, one male and one female, which I named Jim and Kelly. Upon seeing the two new baby hamsters that I had brought forth into this world, I was comforted. After all, isn't there a phrase "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth"? Soon, I will be able to return both eye and tooth, and atone for my sin. Jimmy, where are you?

Monday, October 27, 2003. Eating hamsters - Part II. This continues from the immediate aftermath of the events described in. Eating hamsters - Part I. After eating the dwarf hamster, I was hit by a pang of guilt. I had just taken the life of a cute little creature, albeit a carnivorous one who had tried to eat me. Did I really have to eat the hamster, delicious as it might be? Was that the only option available to me then? I pondered about these questions as I walked to my apartment. The hamster stared i...

Thursday, September 30, 2004. Script for Joels Birthday. This is the script I wrote for a skit that was played out during Joel's birthday celebration. Joel is the group leader of the cell group I am currently attending. The purpose of the skit was to highlight how good and effective Joel had been as a leader. Baa baa black sheep have you any wool? Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full;. One for my master and one for my dame,. And one for the little boy who lives down the lane. Some sheep play dead]. The shee...

Wednesday, April 30, 2003. My third movie for the Singapore Film Festival was Dial History. This is an irreverent documentary about airplane hijacks all over the world. Nevertheless, the documentary does not try to be too serious. Firstly, it is littered through out with somewhat corny-sounding comments from the director. There's also a clip where the hijackers take the place of the stewardess' role . and start serving food to the passengers? Posted by Amleth at 12:05 PM. Posted by Amleth at 11:36 AM.

Just Amleth: Missions Trip to Cambodia

Thursday, November 13, 2008. Missions Trip to Cambodia. I have always had a heart for Cambodia ever since I watched the film The Killing Fields. When I was eleven years old. Although I vaguely remember the movie, the horrors and the atrocities of the Khmer Rouge against their own people is something that was permanently etched into my young mind. The Khmer Rouge. Was a Cambodian communist party that ruled Cambodia from 1975 - 1979. Visiting orphanages in Battambang city. What an experience it was! Posted...

Tuesday, December 30, 2003. Has finally rediscovered her literary abilities after several months of limbo. So if you have the time, do check out her blog. If there is enough interest in her blog, I'm sure she would be inspired to write even more! PS: I don't think I look like Hammie in Baby Blues at all, and I'm not sure if it's even a good thing to look like him. But, for her sake, I'll try to treat it as a compliment. :P. Just Amleth: Crazy Property Market
http://amleth.blogspot.com/2009/08/crazy-property-market.html
Tuesday, August 04, 2009. I was just reading an article. About the property market in Singapore when I learnt that once again, the property market has risen to stratospheric highs. 810 psf for a 99-year leasehold property in Tanah Merah? 1100 psf for a 99-year leasehold property in Ang Mo Kio? Now all they need is to find someone else who will buy it from them at $1200 psf. Come on . it sounds like 1999 all over again. Posted by Amleth at 4:01 AM. View my complete profile.
