Greetings From The Whiskey Bottle: July 2010

http://dwhisks.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

The Ramblings of a Gen Xer. Monday, July 19, 2010. Two Nights and Whiskey Dawn. Okay, think I've have had enough rest over the last few days to sit in front of the screen without my eyes getting blurry to keep the Whiskey Bottle rollin. The Whiskey Dawn Summer tour continues to march with the DWhisks. Playing back-to-back gigs in hometown Buffalo, NY. I have to say it is an honor and privilege to play at the club Lance Diamond built, The Elmwood. To hear her brand of Americana folk-rock music. Being ...

http://dwhisks.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

The Ramblings of a Gen Xer. Friday, November 19, 2010. Wheez's Top Ten Songs. Recently, I sent out a request to long-time friend, mod-squader, and Rock 'n' Roll historian, Wheezer Von Klaw asking him to list his favorite top-ten songs. So this blog is dedicated to the brilliant mind of Wheazer Von Klaw (pictured in the middle) and his deep knowledge of Rock 'n' Roll, perversion and all things related. Terry Corin -"Twistin and Cryin". I love songs where someone has a breakdown but just can't help. Sneeri...

http://dwhisks.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

The Ramblings of a Gen Xer. Friday, October 15, 2010. Perhaps the biggest mistake of the generation I find myself part of is the thought that we are an nothing generation marked with a big X target on our backs. Indeed, the words of Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club. Reverberate through this generation in that we were programmed to believe that we would be rock or movie stars and now seeing those promises are being broken, in a white-wash of 9-5, washing the kid's ass and MNF, we are pissed off. The quintesse...

Greetings From The Whiskey Bottle: THE HALL OF MINOR ROCK GODS

http://dwhisks.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-hall-of-minor-rock-gods.html

The Ramblings of a Gen Xer. Sunday, July 26, 2015. THE HALL OF MINOR ROCK GODS. What I need is a booming, echoey sound effect with that title. Hell, a laser show with a fog-machine would be the perfect cherry topping to that sundae. 50 on a Social Distortion show? I am all in. On the day of the show I got a text from a friend who simply asked, "Would you like to go to the Rolling Stones"? Of course my first reaction was to think not for $100, but replied "how much? 0 to see the Rolling Stones? I am all in.

Greetings From The Whiskey Bottle: November 2011

http://dwhisks.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

The Ramblings of a Gen Xer. Monday, November 28, 2011. The Real Fight Club. When I heard that Orange County old-school punkers, Social Distortion. Were coming to Buffalo, got on the phone and called my old-school-punk-rocker-now-gone-lawyer-buddy to see if he was up for the concert. A short response of "Hell, yeah", secured the deal. Jumping into the mosh-pit. The mosh-pit was fermenting. A few elbows up and the occasional collisions later, the opening act finished their set and made the way for Social D.

Director's Notes Blog: January 2012

http://artdirectorsnotes.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Thoughts, Rants and Observations about the Western New York Dramatic Arts scene. Wednesday, January 11, 2012. A Success Story of Sorts. As 2011 drew to a close and the New Year was ushered in with dropping balls and cheap champagne toasts, I contemplated the first Director's Notes blog of 2012 to kick off this new set of 365 days. What big sizzler could I start the New Year with? A blog about how the Buffalo News. Nah, that can go without saying. The over-saturation of yuppie magazines like The Block Club.

Director's Notes Blog: December 2010

http://artdirectorsnotes.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Thoughts, Rants and Observations about the Western New York Dramatic Arts scene. Tuesday, December 7, 2010. Tom Bauerle is a Putz. I am not a big fan of talk radio and a good portion of my dislike comes from the brash, shock 'em approach many of these individuals take as they proclaim opinion on contemporary issues. Talk show radio hosts use this their advantage as they throw out subject they have opinions about in attempts to rabble-rouse demographic pockets. Apparently, Bauerle was on a tangent about t...

This past September when the Artistic Director for The Carolina Actors Studio. Theater, Michael Simmons came to Buffalo to take in a production of ART's Floyd Collins. One could always "tag" a photo of it and put the picture on Facebook. But FB is becoming so.so complicated, lame, obsolete and seems to be following the same irrelevant path as it's sleeping drunk-uncle-on-the-couch predecessor, My Space. Thoughts, Rants and Observations about the Western New York Dramatic Arts scene. Wednesday, September 12, 2012. A Bread and Circus Worth $60 Million. The Director's Notes Blog is back from a wonderful summer hiatus. As strange as this may sound from a blogger who dedicates his time on writing about topics that surround arts organizations, I deeply love football. Get me a good game of college ball or a rivalry between pee-wee leagues or high schools, and I am into it. When I read about the recent opening ...

http://artdirectorsnotes.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Thoughts, Rants and Observations about the Western New York Dramatic Arts scene. Monday, December 12, 2011. Professional: An Overused Adjective? There are over twenty theaters in the greater Buffalo region and a dozen or more outside the city limits. Plenty of options with something for everyone in this city. What is this buzz-word foghorn? In a recent interview with. A director for a local theater company had to say this about a production of Tracy Letts, "He's a very important playwright in American Th...
