All our fibres are prepared and sold as batts produced by drum-carding. Most are provided as distinct colour-blocks or blocks of blended colour. We believe this presentation offers the most scope for creative spinning as the colours can be spun all together to give a highly variegated yarn or seperated out to give blocks of different colour in the finished yarn. Spurtzleurs and Stick Spinning. We were first introduced to stick spinning by a lovely lady called Monique who hailed from Normandy. She had been invited to the 2011 NPWI show. By a friend to help with some weaving but also went round demonstrating a spinning technique to whoever she could corner for a couple of minutes. Here are some photos of finished (or not! Items produced from our fibre and yarn. Knitted from 100g of Falkland Chunky in the 'Ice' colourway. Pattern by Woolly Wormhead. Available from Yarn Forward magazine (Issue22. Colour differences are due to the first photo being taken in artificial light and the second in natural sunlight. Yarn spun from 'Sunset' colourway batt. The fibre here was bluefaced leicester. It was spun on a Kromski Mazurka wheel and 2-plied to give the final yarn.

Care and Washing of Naturally Dyed Yarn and Fibre. We only use natural dyes that are recorded as having good wash and light-fastness or have been shown to be relativly robust in our own tests. However naturally dyed materials may not be as robust as their synthetic equivalents, so some precautions are needed. Wooden Accessories for the Spinner and Knitter. As well as dyeing wool and fibre we also now offer a variety of hand-turned wooden items for knitters and spinners. These have come about from a woodturning hobby that I took up to provide a bit of light relief from dyeing. The current range includes:.
