There is so much fervent talk about curing autism. It seems that if, as a parent, you don't put every ounce of your energy into "curing" or "recovering" your child, you have failed. It's beginning to feel to me a lot like a war against my son and who and how he is, not a war against something that's bringing him harm. Links to this post.

This past year I have come to the realization that all the stuff that has happened to me in my life had to happen to bring me where I am today, and that all the things that I consider the "worst" events in my life were, in fact, among the best things to happen to me.
