dyslexia cafe: The Simple Ruler (or Rule) Rules, OK!
http://dyslexiacafe.blogspot.com/2012/12/the-simple-ruler-or-rule-rules-ok.html
Helping someone with dyslexia? Came here by mistake? Whichever it is, welcome! Monday, December 17, 2012. The Simple Ruler (or Rule) Rules, OK! The plain old-fashioned ruler, or a bookmark, or a piece of blank paper, or anything else that serves the grand purpose of helping you keep your place on a page of text, is GRRREAT! I know. I sometimes get ahead of myself. And if the cost is prohibitive, maybe you can ask for some of the above for Xmas! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
dyslexia cafe: A favorite novel for reluctant readers
http://dyslexiacafe.blogspot.com/2014/07/a-favorite-novel-for-reluctant-readers.html
Helping someone with dyslexia? Came here by mistake? Whichever it is, welcome! Saturday, July 26, 2014. A favorite novel for reluctant readers. Gary Paulsen. He's the real deal. At the Teach Jake to Read. Here are some titles I'm adding to my pile for most reluctant readers of all. Is a tried and true favorite. It's an exciting, believable story of one boy's survival against the elements and it's fairly easy reading. The author lives in the wilds and, in the perfect small. Is a skeleton detective. Great ...
dyslexia cafe: 2 book titles to try with dyslexic teens
http://dyslexiacafe.blogspot.com/2014/07/2-book-titles-for-disengaged-teens.html
Helping someone with dyslexia? Came here by mistake? Whichever it is, welcome! Friday, July 25, 2014. 2 book titles to try with dyslexic teens. Here's 2 titles I'm about to try reading to my class of teens. A wonderfully imaginative teacher told me they worked really well with her class. They look a bit bleak at first, I agree, but she said they have a triumph-over-adversity tone that worked amazingly well. Check out the old classic. A Time To Kill. dyslexia cafe: Fast For Word- a computer program for auditory processing/phonological awareness
http://dyslexiacafe.blogspot.com/2014/07/fast-forward-computer-program-for.html
Helping someone with dyslexia? Came here by mistake? Whichever it is, welcome! Friday, July 25, 2014. Fast For Word- a computer program for auditory processing/phonological awareness. A few days ago I was speaking at a conference in Melbourne, Australia, and got chatting with the cameraman. "I'm really interested in this," he told me. "My son struggled.". I asked what the problem was and what he had done. "It was auditory processing," he said, "but now my son's fine.". So now I was really interested too!
dyslexia cafe: The accommodation you should have
http://dyslexiacafe.blogspot.com/2007/12/accomodation-you-should-have.html
Helping someone with dyslexia? Came here by mistake? Whichever it is, welcome! Monday, December 3, 2007. The accommodation you should have. Because you get to sit in a less stressful, less competitive environment -Who needs to watch other students leaving the classroom in their droves while you are only half done? It's much better to avoid all that by being somewhere else. The other benefit of taking your exam away from the classroom is that you get extra time, typically time and a half. All innocent tho...

PUZZLING THOUGHTS: THE SAD STORY OF ESMIN GREEN
http://braincrank.blogspot.com/2008/07/sad-story-of-esmin-green.html
Random ideas and twisting thoughts. Sunday, July 06, 2008. THE SAD STORY OF ESMIN GREEN. On June 19th, Esmin Green, a native of Jamaica who had been involuntarily brought to King County Hospital in Brooklyn due to 'agitation and psychosis', died on an emergency waiting room floor after waiting nearly 24 hours for a bed. By that time, it was far too late. On top of that, staff falsified the records regarding the timeframe, making it seem like she was sitting quietly in her chair at the time she died.
PUZZLING THOUGHTS: FACTOIDS AND FAITH
http://braincrank.blogspot.com/2008/04/factoids-and-faith.html
Random ideas and twisting thoughts. Tuesday, April 08, 2008. Interesting factoid: Over 50% of NASA employees are dyslexic. They are deliberately sought after because they have superb problem solving skills and excellent 3D and spatial awareness. The first dyslexic jokes that I can remember hearing are:. A dyslexic walks into a bra. Dyslexics of the World UNTIE! Why is it that some groups can laugh at their own problems while others can't? Why do some groups have a better sense of humor about it? Cancer f...

PUZZLING THOUGHTS: WHAT'S GOING ON AROUND HERE?
http://braincrank.blogspot.com/2008/04/whats-going-on-around-here.html
Random ideas and twisting thoughts. Sunday, April 13, 2008. WHAT'S GOING ON AROUND HERE? Ive been keeping an eye on the Samantha Taylor case in Chandler Arizona. Did you see the video from a Chandler, Arizona school bus? Kids on the bus were out of control, and the bus driver pulled over to ask some students to behave in an orderly fashion. A fight between the bus driver, Kim Sullivan, and Samantha followed. Are we going to continue to live in denial, or are we going to help these kids? Subscribe to: Pos...

Helping someone with dyslexia? Came here by mistake? Whichever it is, welcome! Tuesday, August 19, 2014. So many good books to read! Many reviews claim this story. Turned avid non-readers into just the opposite. I've taken a quick look at the first page and the text seems very friendly. This is another one to add to my growing list. Saturday, August 16, 2014. Story of a real life miracle. A survival story with a rugby team, a plane crash that kills most of them, an almost impenetrable jungle. Conference ...
