Raising awareness of dysphagia, raising funds for VSO. So what did we learn? Achieving a ‘perfect’ puree consistency (i.e. one in line with the National Descriptors for Texture Modification. Root vegetables such as potato and carrot lend themselves well to a smooth, lump free consistency, but we struggled to acheive the same texture with other foods, such as meat and rice. It has made us wonder – are patients who make puree at home really managing to make the consistency we advise? Variety was a challenge.
