The BBC family of microcomputers are a range of 8-bit home-computers which were produced during the 1980s by Acorn. In this site, I intend to draw together information and discussion about the machines. Lack of time means this is little more than a reference page. The little information contained here is mostly from the dicussions held on the BBC Emulator Mailing List, and from the emulator development web pages I maintained at the time. I changed from a PC with a trident sound card capable of playing back multiple sound streams at once to an integrated sound card based on the intel i810 device. Sadly, the i810 only plays a single sound stream, and requires software mixing to accomplish multiple-application sound. With the competition between esd, arts, sdl, alsa and oss, I decided to look into ALSA's new dmixer plugin, alongside aoss to force oss-using applications to use ALSA's native driver. Alsa 1.0.3. I used to spend a fair amount of time playing interactive online games. I played on (the now defunct) TrekMUSE and TrekMUSH: Among The Stars. Both are, as you have probably guessed, based on a StarTrek theme. As I became more proficient in the language used by the MUSE engine which runs the TrekMUSE game, I gave a series of programming lectures. I have also started to play around with a MUX and a space engine. In my spare time. The space engine is under the GNU General Public Licence.

I was born in a small town in Cheshire in 1972, and moved to Birmingham when I was 7. I am 1.86m tall, and 85kgs. The picture was taken in Colorado in 2002.
