I couldn't plan my way to the Post Office in the village. This is just the 25-year-old dream of a 15 year-old kid writ large (as explained on the following pages). Leave the UK early February and fly to the US. Buy a car and drive it around, seeing the sights. Sounds relatively straightforward, doesn't it?

There and Back - Walk 9. There and Back - Walk 15. There and Back -Walk 12. There is a sense of achievement in completing one of the walks which is hard to describe. I'm addicted, that's for sure. As the other 'walks' pages are a bit heavy on the photos, I've only shown the ones that I think are worth seeing. It can't compare to being there, but I hope it comes close. There and Back - Walk 9. If the church at Cross Stone looks like this in sunlight, I wouldn't like to be up here on a dark and stormy night.

Littleborough to Manchester along the Rochdale Canal. The whole walk takes about 6½ hours. Not that I can imagine anyone else would ever want to do it. I only did it so that when people ask, How far do you live from Manchester? I can now reply, in all sincerity, Walking distance. It was cold, and it was snowing. The lovely chemical works between Littleborough and Smithy Bridge. Just be thankful you can't smell it. A bend in the canal. Just round the bend and the driver of this one obviously lost control ...
