Vegan Tightrope: November 2009
http://vegantightrope.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
From vegetarian to vegan in a year. Saturday, November 28, 2009. From Time Magazine for a relatively light introduction to the realities of what factory farming is and why it has to stop). But it did not take reading that book to convince me of the importance of the link between culture and family and food. I've been alive for just about thirty-seven years now. By the way, my Thanksgiving was not vegan. So, it is not without some chagrin that I proofread the paragraphs above. Some friends had us ...I fig...

Vegan Tightrope: Last Night...I Dreamed of Bacon
http://vegantightrope.blogspot.com/2010/02/last-nighti-dreamed-of-bacon.html
From vegetarian to vegan in a year. Sunday, February 14, 2010. Last Night.I Dreamed of Bacon. I wish I could control my dreams. I tried as a child. I think I remember a time in which I realized I was dreaming and hi-jacked my subconscious mind. I ended up flying around and beating up bullies until my alarm called me back to earth.or, maybe I dreamed that. Anyway-. At my brother-in-law's urging. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Vegan Tightrope: Second Thoughts...Already?!!
http://vegantightrope.blogspot.com/2009/11/i-have-not-kept-track-of-my-vegan.html
From vegetarian to vegan in a year. Monday, November 16, 2009. I have not kept track of my vegan activity very well over the last couple of weeks. I've been trying to be more conscious and to develop a vague set of guidelines. There is no doubt that I have slipped up, alot. But never in an intentional "F-this! I'm having an animal product" sort of way. I can confidently say that in any given situation, I would choose an animal-product free. Realistically, animals can contribute to society, right? My poin...

Vegan Tightrope: Vegan Roulette
http://vegantightrope.blogspot.com/2009/11/i-am-playing-russian-roulette-vegan.html
From vegetarian to vegan in a year. Wednesday, November 18, 2009. I guess I could have asked the proprietor, but really? Excuse me Mr. counter-clerk, I'm a pain in the ass. Are your bagels vegan? Can you find someone who does? Sure, I'll wait over here while you help the three people behind me. Was I prepared to walk if he'd said no or I don't know? I mean, I was hungry and I had already passed on about six places and decided this was my best bet.and I did not have all day. View my complete profile.

Vegan Tightrope: Let's talk about leather (and vegan shoes)
http://vegantightrope.blogspot.com/2009/11/should-i-talk-about-leather-i-dont.html
From vegetarian to vegan in a year. Monday, November 23, 2009. Let's talk about leather (and vegan shoes). Should I talk about leather? So, as an aspiring vegan, why would I not want to talk about it? Probably for the same reason that meat-eaters don't want to talk about factory-farming. I can say this, though.I got me some vegan kicks this weekend. I Quit Eating Meat. November 23, 2009 at 9:28 PM. Is that even the right question to ask? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Vegan Tightrope: I'm kind of a chicken when it comes to eating chicken.
http://vegantightrope.blogspot.com/2009/12/im-kind-of-chicken-when-it-comes-to.html
From vegetarian to vegan in a year. Sunday, December 20, 2009. I'm kind of a chicken when it comes to eating chicken. Anyway, back to the reason I started this post. The general topic of health covers all sorts of ground. Today's focus is simple. Is it safe to eat chicken? Should you risk feeding it to yourself and your family because you've always done so, you like the way it tastes, and you know you can pick it up on the cheap and have dinner on the table quickly? It starts out like this:. Whatever bir...

Vegan Tightrope: Step 1: The Resolution

From vegetarian to vegan in a year. Sunday, November 15, 2009. Step 1: The Resolution. I cannot be a vegetarian anymore. I realized this a couple of weeks ago as the result of a collision of circumstances over a few days. It started with a brief discussion with friends about a book. Though none of us had read it, its topic forced a little introspection and self examination. The collision culminated with a request from a close friend. December 5, 2009 at 1:02 PM. I commend you. I suspect I found my wa...

Vegan Tightrope: Fool me once...
http://vegantightrope.blogspot.com/2009/11/fool-me-once.html
From vegetarian to vegan in a year. Wednesday, November 25, 2009. I figured out a solution. I took a bunch of the various Asian sauces and spices that were in the fridge and whipped up a little impromptu pad-thai sauce concoction that turned out great as far as we were concerned. Yes, the label on that sriracha sauce says "fish extract." (Fortunately, the Huy Fong. Sriracha sauce that we prefer and normally use is vegan.). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Vegan Tightrope: The Christmas dinner that never was...and a major slip-up
http://vegantightrope.blogspot.com/2010/01/holidays-hit-hard.html
From vegetarian to vegan in a year. Monday, January 18, 2010. The Christmas dinner that never was.and a major slip-up. The holidays hit hard. I know that is a bit of a cliche.holidays are stressful and all, but the end of 2009/beginning of 2010 was a month-long cyclone. Here's the menu. It all came out of a holiday edition of Vegetarian Times (the subscription of which was a gift from my mom last year):. Butternut Squash-Bartlett Pear Soup. Citrus Collards with Raisins. Here's the deal. As I've said ...
