Notes from Nomi Jill: January 2009

Monday, January 26, 2009. Live is stumping along -chaos is NORMAL for us these days! Still nothing concrete from the mortgage company that might get the walls and ceilings repaired. We are hoping to have our home ready to sell by April 1st. We aren't moving far (just a few miles) but need to get to a place where we are zoned to a better high school before Andrew starts in another year! You can help us pray that that will go well. Then be sure to come back here and let me know what you think! No, I didn't...

Notes from Nomi Jill: September 2008
http://nomijill.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 14, 2008. I was locked in the hospital from Friday at 2PM until Sunday morning around 7. I tried hard to get home, but every route I tried was flooded. I finally turned around and went back to the hospital and a fabulous friend there drove me home in her big ole' truck! These are a few photos of what I found. Some of our roof - now we can see why the water is pouring in! Lots of shingles are missing. Ceiling starting to bulge in Brendan's room. Ike comes to call! The paint in Melissa's ...

Wednesday, April 8, 2009. Extreme Makeover - Hays Home Edition. Finally some progress on our house! I am so excited to have most of the work done and be able to start putting things back together! Formal dining room. For some reason I couldn't get the camera to shoot a clear shot of this room - maybe lighting? Anyway, it is a warm chocolate color with red accents. The art niche as you walk past the staircase into the living room. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Places I Like to Hang Out.

Wednesday, February 5, 2014. No, my front "den" (really the formal dining room but we use it as a game room/second living area) is not typically under water! Randy heard water running around 6 am on Sunday, February 2nd. He thought it was likely Jamison (our 13-year-old) up taking a shower before church. This is not necessarily atypical behavior for him. He seems to need very little sleep. He has learned to be quiet about his nocturnal wanderings though! This is the door leading from our kitchen into the...

Sunday, March 8, 2009. Our princess in Swan Lake. Melissa danced today in Swan Lake. She did a beautiful job and we were SO proud of her! These are pictures of her in her costume - she was a basket bearer in the royal court! Monday, March 2, 2009. Another long pause between postings - seems I am good at those! And this is after. For some reason I am all into the warm colors! This is what the second floor game room looks like now . All the furniture from two bedrooms and the dining room are stuffed in...

http://nomijill.blogspot.com/2013/02/it-has-been-just-over-year-since-i.html
Monday, February 4, 2013. It has been just over a year since I posted anything and it's probably appropriate that I bring my blog up to date just a bit. Summer started out wonderful for the family. We had an Ezell family (my side of the family) reunion at our house. We were sad that Karla, Lyle, Laura, Rebecca, Tim and Margaret couldn't come, but it was great fun to spend several days with Allen, LaRona, 'Rena, Allyn, Dori, Gary, Garrett, Elizabeth and Elena.and of course Grammy and Papa! Lawlis Peavey h...

Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Oreo Cookie Balls - A Tutorial. I have made these little balls of deliciousness many times and I always get asked how they are made. They are deceptively simple, really. Especially when you consider the taste! To quote my cousin Nathan: "that has to be the best thang I ever wrapped my tongue around"! He was talking about my dad's baked beans at the time but still.) Nathan makes me laugh. I might quote him again on my blog someday. Really! Toss 'em in the blender. I can pu...

Friday, February 7, 2014. Yes, it's very atypical for me to put two posts up on one day but I wanted you to see some of what I am seeing as we start tearing out the wet materials. This is the baseboard in Jamison's room. This is the opposite side of the house from the leak. This will give you an idea of how far the water travelled. Wow! I just started three sentences in a row with the same word! I'm just that tired. As hard as he tried to preserve the tiles, they come popping up. All of the sheetrock on ...

Monday, March 3, 2014. Yesterday (March 2) marked one month since the flood in our home. I owe you an update! It has been a most harrowing and frustrating month! We finally started ripping out a bit more of the cabinets in the kitchen. The insurance adjuster (independent contractor) has told us that he feels the cabinets can be pulled out, the walls, floor etc dried and the replaced. This is what we found:. Moldy boards. This is what happens when wood is left wet for several weeks in Houston. This is wha...
