Category Archive for: ‘Safari’. We’ve just returned from our latest trip to wonderful East Africa, this time exploring yet another fantastic safari park and getting some fabulous views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Located in Tanzania, ‘Killi’ is the largest mountain in Africa, standing at 5896m and has a dormant volcanic cone. The locals told us that Killi is a girl because she is shy and …. Amazing Acacias

http://eastafricatea.com.au/amazing-acacias

There are few more striking symbols of Africa than the acacia tree with its gnarled branches, graceful form and jagged thorns, and one of the fun things we did on our trip was Acacia spotting. They get their characteristic flavour and colour from a natural oxidation process after the leaves are picked. These teas are ‘fired’, so in order to extract maximum flavour, they need to be brewed with freshly rolling boiled (not re-boiled) water, to get the amount of oxygen required for the brewing process. On the tea below for brewing instructions. Use approx one tsp (2 gram...

From green leaf to black tea …..

http://eastafricatea.com.au/the-tea-treat

From green leaf to black tea …. From green leaf to black tea …. We were very lucky to have an opportunity to be shown around another tea factory, where we were able to observe the fascinating process of turning soft green freshly picked leaves into beautiful black tea using the cut, tear, curl (CTC) method. This traditional method of making tea was invented in the 1930s and is still basically the same today. The warm air starts the oxidzation process as the broken leaves are sent along a series of convey...
