A stand publicising the many activities of the WI manned by a rota of members proved very popular and the baking and items of bric-a-brac on sale made a sizeable sum for WI funds. Thorpe Hesley W.I. Friday, 7 October 2016. South Yorkshire Federation Quiz. Thorpe Hesley WI Quiz team comprised Pat, Dorothy, Jayne and 'Captain Mary' as they joined 18 other teams from across the Federation at the Gordon Bennett Memorial Hall in Thurcroft. The topics were wide-ranging and we started well with 18/20 in the first round. We ended up with a total of 63/80 which we were quite pleased with and found that our 'neighbours'. Had finished second with 69/80 with. Well done Wentworth WI - 2nd place.

As usual the SYFWI's International Day was a sell-out so unfortunately some members were disappointed when they heard that each WI was limited to 5 tickets each. June sees the Edible Garden bursting to life with a series of art and food making activities FREE for all to take part in. We will be foraging, making herb butters and flavoured vinegars as well as vegetable printing, banner-making and story painting. 11am. We will be making recipe books and exchanging recipes and painting food stories as well as making soda bread, sourdough bread and orange peel cakes 11am.
