The Easton Curiosity Shop: October 2012
http://eastoncuriosityshop.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
The Easton Curiosity Shop. Sunday, October 28, 2012. Visiting Plymouth and Plimoth. Two trips to Plymouth the past week-one a scouting mission and one a trip with my cousins from the west coast. The historical sites had certainly evolved from my last historical visit twenty years ago. Most of us probably have visited with kids, but Pilgrim Hall and Plimoth Plantation both deserve a second look as adults. Century. “Who are you looking for? Finally we arrived at the Brewster home to discover Elder William ...

The Easton Curiosity Shop: April 2013
http://eastoncuriosityshop.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
The Easton Curiosity Shop. Friday, April 26, 2013. A Sad Bird Story. I had attended today's blog to be about the first public meeting of Envision Easton which took place on Wednesday. It was an interesting and very positive event attended by about 70 Eastoners. But a happy story is for another day. I've been feeding suet to my birds all winter long and have attracted a large number of woodpeckers. Perhaps not. On an early morning food run it looked as if she flew too low and was hit by a car. A t...Saint...

The Easton Curiosity Shop: January 2013
http://eastoncuriosityshop.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
The Easton Curiosity Shop. Tuesday, January 29, 2013. An Easton Congregation and Its Award Winning Church. The historic church’s congregation has worked hard over many years to maintain this little gem, and in 2012 a particularly nice job of repainting their building in a two-toned Victorian style caught the eye of Historical Commissioners. What the Historical Commission discovered at its awards ceremony was an inspiring story of perseverance well worth sharing. Next to Sunnyside were two small lots that...

The Easton Curiosity Shop: March 2013
http://eastoncuriosityshop.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
The Easton Curiosity Shop. Sunday, March 31, 2013. Easton Grange has a New Website. Just a few years ago, it looked as if the Easton Grange was about to go out of business. Today with a rapidly growing membership, the group has launched its own website. Thanks to the efforts of member Dottie Fulginiti. The Grange blends an “old-timey” atmosphere with a modern commitment to the local agriculture and horticulture, the environment, and the preservation of its historic building. Sunday, March 24, 2013. It's ...

The Easton Curiosity Shop: Knights of the Air
http://eastoncuriosityshop.blogspot.com/2013/05/knights-of-air.html
The Easton Curiosity Shop. Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Knights of the Air. Naturally I was attracted to the many simulation games that were around in the '70s and '80s as well. I became Randolph High's simulation game club advisor. OK, I became the head of the Dungeons and Dragons Club. I learned important things like never approach an angry dragon from the front which is exactly the opposite of the way to approach horses in the real world (to the front and side). The Easton Curiosity Shop: December 2012
http://eastoncuriosityshop.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
The Easton Curiosity Shop. Monday, December 31, 2012. I'm going to be offering a program at the library this spring about tracking animals. The dirty secret is that for much of the year unless a wild animal is kind enough to step into mud or soft sand "tracking" is a euphemism for looking at poop. The snow yesterday actually allowed for real tracking, but would the Governor Ames Estate be accessible? Posted by The Easton Curiosity Shop. Saturday, December 29, 2012. The Easton Curiosity Shop: July 2012
http://eastoncuriosityshop.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
The Easton Curiosity Shop. Saturday, July 28, 2012. Correia and Gomes and an Olympian. The other two Correia children were Dorothy, age 11 and Leolinda, age 9. The 1920 census shows that tragedy was not unknown in the Gomes family. Born in 1916, 3 and a half year old Edward Gomes died before the next census. That 1920 census moves back the immigration date for both Manuel and Rose by a year to 1910 and 1913. Posted by The Easton Curiosity Shop. Friday, July 27, 2012. More on this tomorrow. Sunday, July 2...
