Wednesday, November 19, 2008. This week baking was matcha macaron, it was delicious to my surprise! The green tea (matcha) cut down the sweetness in the macarons which i much prefer. Using the same macaron recipe as last time, i added 3 teaspoons of matcha to the dry ingredients, mix well and sift. For the filling i use 115gr sweet butter at room temp, 2 table spoons powder sugar and 1/2 teaspoon matcha, mix well. Links to this post. Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Last week baking was tiramisu. we ate it so fast i didn't take any picture :(. I used the chiffon cake recipe for the cake part - no lady finger here! 9" diameter chiffon cake, slice into discs about 3/4" thick. For the soaking liquid, i used:. 4 table spoons instant espresso powder (or more if prefer stronger). 200 gr kahlua (or more if prefer). Dissolve espresso in boiling water, let it cool down to luke warm, add kahlua, mix well. divide liquid into 2 equal portions.

Thursday, February 28, 2008. Lotus root and gobo salad. Inspired by the gobo salad and Delica rf-1, i am making my own for lunch today. i got the lotus root, gobo, mizuna and sweet tofu skin from the japanese grocery shop. I went to wholefood and found the purple carrots! The bunch was so pretty with the deep beet purple, orange and light yellow carrots. i am using fennel instead of celery. i am also skipping the onion and the japanese mountain potato. lets get on with making the salad. Sunday, September 21, 2008. My baking for this week - the espresso cream puffs adapted from "Baking with Julia" book. 200 gr unsalted butter. 2 teaspoons instant espresso powder. Pre heat oven at 400F. Add espresso, sugar, vanilla to milk, bring to a simmer, stir and make sure all espresso is completely dissolved. Add butter to milk and stir until butter is completely melted. Berries are in season and i was looking for something easy to bake this weekend since i didn't feel so well. - strawberry bread pudding it is. i made up the recipe, i used brioche instead of bread. 4 rolls of brioche (dinner roll size). 1 pack of strawberry (1lb or 450gr). 30 sugar (or more if prefer sweeter). 60 gr butter at room temp. 225gr of heavy cream. 30 gr turbinado sugar - optional. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
