The Persistent Illusionist: March 2010
http://persistentillusionist.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one" - Albert Einstein. Friday, 19 March 2010. As I said in my introduction to my interview with David J. Williams (game writer and novelist), I've become fascinated by storytelling through the medium of computer games. Unsurprisingly, being an MMO junkie, I want above all to look at the state of storytelling in MMOs, which present tremendous obstacles for writers, but also really exciting possibilities. Monday, 15 March 2010. The latest edition of ...

Saturday, October 18, 2008. Lore Kick - Stingy Jack. I’ve been on a Lore kick for a number of months now – not just about the games I’ve been playing but really anything to do with traditional stories or fairy tales. Seeing as Halloween (my favoritest Holiday evar) is coming up, I thought I’d post something I found from the History Channel Halloween section. Story from the Stingy Jack. Also has a Stingy Jack article. Ack double-posting on my own blog . boo! Here's the Wikipedia link on Samhain:. Trick or...
The Battered Shield: August 2008
http://batteredshield.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 21, 2008. Book 14, Summer Festival and other stuff. I've been really busy at work lately so I haven't had a lot of time to make up stuff to post. The Summer Festival has come and gone. It was the first festival which there have now been two of since the launch of LotRO! There were some new dances introduced as well. They actually had a patch today which fixed them - they were broken during the festival so they appeared the same as the old dances. And that's what's going on.

Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one" - Albert Einstein. Wednesday, 15 April 2009. At this year's GDC, Jeff Kaplan of Blizzard talked about quest design, outlining nine problems with quests in WoW. Lum picked it up at Broken Toys. Which is where I saw it first, though it's all over everywhere now), and now Timothy Burke has posted an interesting response at Terra Nova. Which has prompted me to post my own thoughts on the subject. 1 The Christmas Tree Effect. 2 Too Long, Didn't Read.

The Persistent Illusionist: May 2010

Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one" - Albert Einstein. Saturday, 1 May 2010. Games and Stories - in which, in a roundabout way, I try to tell you wat I'm talkin' 'bout. While I talk and the flies buzz. A seagull catches a fish at the mouth of the Amazon,. A tree falls in the Adirondack wilderness,. A man sneezes in Germany,. A horse dies in Tattany,. And twins are born in France. What does that mean? Of these events with one another,. And with a million others as disjointed,.
