Eating with Integrity

Sunday, August 2, 2015. Health is not the absence of sickness. I attended a semi-awkward family reunion this weekend. Now most reunions are a little awkward. When spending time with folks you usually only see once every year or so, it is guaranteed that you will answer the same question multiple times. Usually, where do you live and what do you do? Sometimes, are you married yet? 2 Health is not just the absence of sickness. And "What does 'healthy' look like? Because, last time I checked, the definition...

Eating with Integrity: May 2014

http://eatingwthintegrity.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Greenfest DC (May 31 - June 1). The mourning dove eggs have hatched, fledged and flown away. How time flies when you fly for a living. I never expected my 75% travel job to be so, well, nonstop. In the flurry that was spring, I was unable to move around my work schedule to attend the Functional Medicine conference in San Fransisco. Bummer! However, instead of a trip to gain. Knowledge, I now have the opportunity to spread. What am I talking about? On May 31 - June 1. Diet Culture...

Eating with Integrity: March 2015

http://eatingwthintegrity.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 30, 2015. This past Thursday I joined local cyclists for sprint night down at Hains Point. It was a beautiful evening, nearly 70 degrees F. After biking with legs, sleeves, jackets and gloves for so long it felt surreal to shed all the layers and go out only in shorts and a short-sleeved jersey. I wasn't the only one taking advantage of the weather. Almost 50 people showed up to ride laps around the circular loop! But when he looked at his speedometer, he was already riding at 34 mph! As th...

Eating with Integrity: February 2015

http://eatingwthintegrity.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 27, 2015. The importance of listening to your body. I've started climbing more often since resigning from my corporate travel job. Instead of just climbing on Mondays and Fridays, I'm climbing most Wednesdays, too. Two weeks later, I climbed it four times in a row without falling! I felt amazingly in shape. But eventually, the repetitive stress caught up with me. To my diet to help calm down the inflammation in my over-worked shoulder muscles. I stretched and did gentle yoga. Having work...

Eating with Integrity: January 2015

http://eatingwthintegrity.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Gluten Freedom: my thoughts on the book. I just finished reading Dr. Alessio Fasano's book, Gluten Freedom. And it is amazing! Definitely a must-read for any clinician who works with patients suffering from digestive, dermatological, neurological conditions or for anyone who is a patient and thinks they might have a gluten-related condition. It is especially helpful for anyone whose doctor has ever said "it's all in your head"! I read the book Wheat Belly. Read the study here.

So join me in this foraging and cooking adventure! Friday, June 19, 2009. Red clover is everywhere and blooming.  . Monday, June 8, 2009. 160;wal...

K is for Kale. Food, Health, Life and Love. Sunday, November 7, 2010. The color not only intrigues us visually, but provides substantial health benefits, such as antioxidants, bioflavanoids and essential vitamins and minerals. One particular root vegetable has gained substantial attention recently, the humble beet. Scientist are excited about this vegetable for the potential benefits it may provide. The reason is two fold:. So does this mean that we should all drink beet juice for the rest of our lives?

K is for Kale. Food, Health, Life and Love. Wednesday, July 1, 2009. All those little tiered plates with finger sized treats and piping hot tea, mmmm! So I officially started on Thursday. It’s been going very well, except for a small slip up on Saturday. 188; head red cabbage, shredded. 2 carrots, matchsticked. 1 bunch radishes, cut into rounds. 188; cup chopped Italian parsley. Juice of 1 lemon. 2 tablespoons raw apple cider vinegar. 188; cup extra virgin olive oil. 2 teaspoons sea salt. Grain Free Birt...

K is for Kale. Food, Health, Life and Love. Tuesday, June 2, 2009. The healing powers of food. Today I felt so lethargic.I can't quite put my finger on it. I was told - "It's the heat", as it is a whopping 80 something degrees in Seattle and the Northwesterners are melting. I myself absolutely love the heat. I grew up in New York summers and I have Mediterranean blood running through me, so, bring it on! The meal I prepared is definitely comfort food to me. Hearty Bean and Veggie Fusilli. 1 tablespoon dr...

K is for Kale. Food, Health, Life and Love. Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Is a large state. Today we drove about 250 miles to. Mt up and down mountain passes. It is truly a beautiful state. The clouds rose above us forming small bundles interspersed by bright blue sky. This was set against a mountainous backdrop littered with flowing streams and evergreens. At one point, all you could see was towering evergreens on each side of you as you drove. A sight I can never forget. We made a pit stop in. We made it to.

K is for Kale: Choosing the diet soda?

http://kisforkale.blogspot.com/2009/07/choosing-diet-soda.html

K is for Kale. Food, Health, Life and Love. Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Choosing the diet soda? We all know this scenario: woman/man walks into a fast food joint, orders a super large meal (with dessert) and then asks for the diet soda. I think we can all sense the irony in that situation, the consumption of a high calorie meal with the concern about calories in the soda. What difference can that possibly make? Well first of all, a meal this calorie dense should not be eaten at all! July 16, 2009 at 4:20 PM.
