Eat Piedmont: When To Visit

http://www.eatpiedmont.com/p/when-to-visit.html

We are yet to visit in winter as, however beautiful the landscape may look covered in a blanket of snow, a lot of the towns and villages are up very steep hills via very narrow and winding roads, and without a 4x4 with snow chains we just don't believe you could get the most out of the region at that time of year. Here's a closer look at the times we think it's best to visit:. Of the record finds of the day. Partaking in the wine expo at the back of the hall is also a good way to try a few of the big...

Eat Piedmont: The Truffle

http://www.eatpiedmont.com/p/the-truffle.html

The white truffle (Tuber magnatum) is a mysterious and magical thing. It's an ugly, hardy fungus that grows underground in the Langhe, where the intensely hot summers and the cool, misty autumns provide the perfect growing conditions. It has the most amazingly earthy and pungent flavour you will ever experience, and the way that it is used in Italian cooking makes for some incredible gastronomical experiences. But we did only see that once in 2013 sadly. If you are self catering, there are some good deli...

Eat Piedmont: Eating Out

http://www.eatpiedmont.com/p/eating-out.html

Obviously the main reason most people visit this area is either for the truffles or the wine, so there are countless fine places to eat and however many times you visit you will always be discovering even more new amazing places that seem to trump those you have been to before. Here are our top ten (for now):. Via Belveglio, Vinchio. We visited at lunch and it was full but Ivano came and greeted us as we parked. Every course was awesome and each one came with a different wine (some made by his father!

Eat Piedmont: Places To Visit

http://www.eatpiedmont.com/p/places-to-visit.html

Our list of 'must see' places is ever growing but here are our top few. A beautiful town with a very small 'old-town' centre full of restaurants, deli's selling truffles and home to the annual Truffle Fair and Palio - the perfect base camp for exploring the area. Wiki: http:/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alba, Piedmont. And a beautifully decorated. Greek orthodox church - it is generally just a lovely place to stroll around. Asti wiki page: http:/ wikitravel.org/en/Asti. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Piedmont, Al...

Eat Piedmont: Wine

http://www.eatpiedmont.com/p/wine.html

The first time we visited Piedmont was sort of by accident.we were visiting a friend in San Remo and had a few days to spare but no idea of what to do with them so we looked at a map and saw the name 'Barolo' - we all liked a drink and as we at the time worked in a wine merchants it seemed the perfect place to visit. But then the car climbed up a steep hill and as we reached the crest the full glory of the area surrounding Alba came into view! A good reason to pay attention when your wines being poured!

Eat Pictures | films and photographs of food and drink by Rob Wicks

Films and photographs of food and drink by Rob Wicks. I produce and direct short films about good things to eat and drink. I take pictures as well. And I like stories. Storytelling is central to all I do. For about 17 years I worked for the BBC, making programmes about food whenever possible, and quite a lot of other things as well. I won a handful of awards from the likes of Sony, the Royal Television Society and the New York Festival of Television and Film. I shoot and edit my own films. To discuss new...
