Living in Phoenix. Cooking for Two. Trying to save some money! Saturday, July 2, 2011. I can definitely tell it is summer here in Arizona with everyday temperatures over 110 degrees. One thing I learned really quickly when I moved here is DO NOT USE the OVEN in the summer unless you absolutely have too. Bill and I got back from Chicago this week, and after eating all of the amazing. Grill chicken a few hours before ready to eat, so it is nice and cool on salad. Ingredients all prepared and ready to eat!

eat.play.save: Seafood Pasta

http://www.eatplaysave.blogspot.com/2011/05/seafood-pasta.html

Living in Phoenix. Cooking for Two. Trying to save some money! Sunday, May 8, 2011. I found the recipe in my at blanchard's table. Cookbook, and it was wonderful. The recipe calls for shrimp but I adapted it. I love seafood, but living in Arizona it is always very expensive! At Trader Joe's I found a frozen seafood medley (shrimp, scallops calamari $5.99), which actually worked well. Obviously fresh seafood would be better, but you learn to adapt quickly when you are on a budget :). 3 TBLS olive oil.

Living in Phoenix. Cooking for Two. Trying to save some money! Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Something my dad would cook! My dad is always finding different healthy recipes to try, and when I saw this my first thought was "my dad would love this recipe! I originally got this off a gluten free website, but of course I adapted it to make it my own! For all my gluten free friends out there, if you don't follow this site, she has some great recipes! Try this meal cold too! Dad's Vegetable Rice Salad. Cheese- go...

Living in Phoenix. Cooking for Two. Trying to save some money! Sunday, April 17, 2011. Here is another fabulous pioneer woman recipe pioneer woman chicken tacos. Usually I alter recipes a little, but this one didn't need any altering. Bill and I absolutely loved them, and they were easy to make! We of course had our homemade salsa bill meggan's salsa. And lettuce from our garden! We had plenty of leftovers too, so we had them two nights last week. Corn Tortillas (small Size). 4 Ounce) Diced Green Chilies.

Pinch and a Palate: Brazil: Meat Lovin'

http://pinchandapalate.blogspot.com/2011/03/brazil-meat-lovin.html

Pinch and a Palate. Wednesday, March 16, 2011. The only time to eat diet food is while you're waiting for the steak to cook."- Julia Child. We completed "B," with Brazil. And guess what! We even did it correctly; we picked a COUNTRY (Not much room for error. there are no continents starting with B). We just won't go there. When was the last time you were served a juicy, hunk of meat, off a long skewer, table-side at a restaurant? A few fun facts about Brazil:. Slightly smaller than the U.S. So, let's go ...

Pinch and a Palate: January 2011

http://pinchandapalate.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Pinch and a Palate. Monday, January 31, 2011. Pinch and a Palate. There are 26 of them. Children sing a song about them. They form words. We read them, say them, and curse them. ( I also beat my friends in 'Words With Friends' using them). I'm talking about the ALPHABET. So this blog is about refining our palates, one pinch at a time. Each month I will review the "country" we traveled to, the food we ate and the atmosphere we encountered. Luckily for the 2 people reading this blog (I'll force Gre...I am ...

Pinch and a Palate. Sunday, May 8, 2011. Hi again. I have been a terrible blogger. I give to you the typical excuses: life has been busy and I've had no time to blog. I know, I know, lame excuses. But good news, I am back! Today, I felt was an important day to blog. I mean after all it is Mother's Day, right? Borderline diabetic. Hypertensive. Arthritis. Obese. All these words were once a concern of my mom's. NOT ANYMORE! I think she is in better shape then me! I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Pinch and a Palate. Sunday, February 27, 2011. Yes, I'll have a non-fat, decaf latte, please. Oh what the hell? Look, make it a full-fat mocha with extra whipped cream. What the hell, put a slice of bacon on it! Dr Frasier Crane (A Quote from Frasier.). What's not to like about bacon, with it's crispy, salty, and fatty deliciousness? Even vegetarians have trouble resisting this meaty treat when they smell it cooking. He 10lbs of bacon in the home refrigerator will do. What about baked goods? 1 teaspoon g...

Pinch and a Palate: Muffin Tops to Cake Pops

http://pinchandapalate.blogspot.com/2011/03/muffin-tops-to-cake-pops.html

Pinch and a Palate. Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Muffin Tops to Cake Pops. Or not to challenge? This is what I was asking myself on Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent. I decided to take on the challenge: No "sweets" for 40 days. What was I thinking? No Skittles. No Mambas. No Starburst. I'm crazy. Even now, 20 days later, every time I am in the check out line at the grocery store and see the "deal": buy 2 for 1.00. I am tempted to reach for the ENTIRE box! Well, I love Easter. 2 reasons. I have always been a...

Pinch and a Palate. Thursday, March 10, 2011. San Francisco: My Weekend Getaway. San Francisco. Home to cable cars, Chinatown, Lombard St., Alcatraz, Union Square and the Giants. Lucky for me, these are only a few great attractions to see when visiting San Fran. Why am I lucky? I was able to take a day off of work to spend an extended weekend in the heart of Union Square with my hubbers. I gotta say, we were spoiled. It was a perfect weekend with nothing but blue skies. Union Square: Shopping Central.

Life in Japan as I live it. Saturday, December 3, 2011. Can't get no satisfaction. I logged onto amazon.jp, clicked on the add to cart button, and put in my credit card details. I often shop on Amazon. It's very convenient, and you don't have to trail past rows and rows of other enticing goods. When I visit appliance stores I always suffer a serious attack of indecision. The box arrived just as I was putting on my yukata for a dining trip to Funatsuru. I was so excited! But now, several months and many p...

Eat play. SEW! Wednesday, December 12, 2012. I've had this finished for a while, luckily as the baby boy recipient in question (baby Zyggy) is already 5 months old! Zyggy's mum, one of my oldest and dearest friends, thinks it is my best quilt EVER and it's currently her most favourite thing in her house (and she has a lot of nice things). I'm not sure about that, but I do love it, and it's certainly a nice thing to hear! I used Cluck Cluck Sew's Bizzy Kid. And I need to get started on a new boy quilt&#46...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. December 7, 2009. 8211; Here in Paris they are very commited to the idea that even commoners can enjoy the opera and ballet. The 3 of us had a fabulous night at the ballet, where we got to enjoy box seats in the beautiful Opera Garnier. (Birthplace of the Phantom.) What a grand venue! Photo Opp on the Grand Staircase. It must be half a mile deep. And it was filled with dancers. Very cool! I need to learn the language! Speaking of the princess life, we also got out to se...
