eat stuff: Christmas Biscuits! and a Stollen MEME
http://eatstuff.blogspot.com/2005/12/christmas-biscuits-and-stollen-meme.html
Wednesday, December 07, 2005. And a Stollen MEME. Ok, before I get into the Christmas goodness I have to say something. IT WAS 42 deg C. Gee that is hot, damm hot, smoking hot! But, it did mean that it was perfect. Beach weather. It also means that Iam so glad we chose to spend all day yesterday in the kitchen rather than today. This shows a 'plate' of biscuits, normaly we make christmas trees and decorate them. But my mum lost my cutter! There was one other Christmas job we do, we make our own cake, the...

Monday, December 05, 2005. Pancakes are for brekkie. I thought I should share some photos of our weekend in the 'gong (Wollongong). Seeing as this is a food blog I think I should share the food first? I am right aren't I? Not everyone is happy when we visit. Say hello to Jubei, or as my mum calls him boy-boy *shudder*. I mean, from legendary ronin to boy-boy? So you know me, I can't take enough pictures of flowers, I heart flowers. LOL ( not that he is ever going to get that close). There it is, I hope y...

The Occasional Epicure: Singapore - Laksa
http://occasionalepicure.blogspot.com/2005/10/singapore-laksa.html
Occasional updates on my eating and cooking adventures. Wednesday, October 05, 2005. In August 2004 RJ and I visited Singapore for my friends' wedding. It was way before I had ever even set eyes upon a food blog. But because food is one of my favourite things about Singapore, I ended up taking some photos of things we ate. My favourite ingredient is the fried spongy tofu that absorbs the delicious coconut milk-based curry soup, closely followed by the prawns, hard boiled egg, beansprouts and noodles.

Occasional updates on my eating and cooking adventures. Saturday, April 16, 2005. Corn on the cob. I was going to make a corny joke, but thought I'd better not. :). Seriously though, what better snack is there than a couple of cobs of sweet corn with lots of butter and salt? Posted by Kelly @ 9:55 am. Saturday, April 09, 2005. Edmonds and the Banana Loaf. I settled on the Banana Loaf recipe from the delightfully retro Edmonds. This book is a New Zealand icon and - even though I'm not a Kiwi - I love it!

The Occasional Epicure: Oaty date slice
http://occasionalepicure.blogspot.com/2005/10/oaty-date-slice.html
Occasional updates on my eating and cooking adventures. Friday, October 14, 2005. Winter in Queensland is long gone. I love eating porridge for breakfast every day when the weather is cold, but once there's a hint of warmth in the air it's straight back to cereal and cold milk. This year I miscalculated when the porridge days would end, and finished up with an oversupply of rolled oats. Who could suggest a use for these lovely and healthy grains? Are oats classified as a grain? Somebody, please advise!

Cheat Eat: Water Chestnut Cake 马蹄糕
http://cheateat.typepad.com/blog/2005/08/water_chestnut_.html
August 23, 2005. Water Chestnut Cake 马蹄糕. A childhood favourite of mine, the pan fried water chestnut cake is a dim sum classic. The caramelized surface is crispy while the inside is slightly sticky and chewy. Bits of juicy water chestnut add a nice crunch and refreshing sweetness. It is quite amazing when one realises that the flour used for making the cake is water chestnut too. The same raw material and yet such difference in texture when cooked. 250g water chestnut flour. Unmold the cake and slice it...
