I was so tired and everything is so disorienting to me here, I almost let it go by, but then I thought, “Was that really a tomahawk? Maybe she was going home too, returning from the ceremony. Her walk was brisk and purposeful. The moon shone. The pine trees stood dark against the sky. The air was cool. The ocean glowed at the end of the block. The light turned green, and I drove home in wonder.

Techniques typical of the Nouvelle Vague, that years later Truffaut said he found embarrassing. He especially felt that the panning shots were too fast and noticeable.
